Current FTN Prayer Focus
Prayer Countdown
Tuesday started the 3-week mark until our Feed the Need packing party!
We are asking teachers, staff, students, parents… everyone to pray over our school and for the lives of the people who will be ministered to.
This week we are praying specifically for Jonshen who is a child in Osmanpur Children’s Home.
Our verses this week are Romans 10:9-10.
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
Prayer Focus for the Week:
- Please pray for our nation.
- Pray that God uses our school for His glory in everything we do and throughout this project.
- Pray for salvations, in our country, our school, and in those who receive the meals we are packing.
- Pray with a heart of thankfulness for God’s miracles and mercies.
We are thankful for you and we are thanking God for all of the blessings that He continues to provide CCS! To Him be all the glory!

Looking Back on Last Week
Gullion Farms
On Monday, students in 1st and 2nd grade had the chance to learn more about farming and agriculture at Gullion Farms. They got to milk a cow, fish in the pond, gather eggs, and more.
Fall Picture Prints are In
Fall portrait orders are in and have been sent home with students.
*Make Up Picture Day will be Tuesday, November 19th for any student that was absent on fall portrait day.
Let's Pretend Hospital
1st Grade students traveled to Wallace State Community College on Tuesday where they had the opportunity to participate in activities designed to make them feel more comfortable about visiting the hospital. Nursing students, faculty and community service providers were there to help students learn more.
Special Guest
Dr. Boyd's 7th grade Civics and Geography class had the opportunity to meet and learn more from Representative Randall Shedd during their class on Monday. Mr. Shedd is a member of the Alabama House of Representatives.
Learning About Voting
On Tuesday students from Preschool all the way up to 12th grade had the opportunity to participate in a mock election. The upper school journalism students organized this activity which included checking in at the voting station, marking a ballot, dropping the ballot in the box, and getting their voting sticker.
The final results of the election were:
- 90% Voter Turnout (several students were out with sickness)
- Trump - 225 Votes
- Harris - 37 Votes
One of Mr. Roy's upper school math classes took a little time on Wednesday to extend this activity by learning about the electoral process and calculating what electoral voting might look like if grade levels were considered states. For example, in this exercise they learned that the Senior class (7 students) would have less influence than the Kindergarten class (34 students).
Muddy Fun
After the rain we had, these Preschoolers had a little fun in the mud this week. Don't be surprised if one of them tries to hand you an earthworm they found!
Court Sponsors
Court sponsor logos were added this week to the floor. We are so thankful for these partners. Their sponsorship has made the new wood floor possible!
Our Court Sponsors Are:
- Mitch Smith Cheverolet
- Clearview Cancer Institute
- Brothers Concrete Supply
- Urgent Care Center
Bouncing Basketballs
PE classes have enjoyed bouncing, passing, and dribbling basketballs around the court this week.
LEO Club Interest Meeting
Upper school students interested in being a part of our newly established LEO Club met with Pastor Ory on Thursday. At the meeting students learned more about what the LEO Club will do as a service organization, how we will work with the Cullman Lions Club, and how to sign up to be a member. Participating students will serve in different community projects throughout the year.
Spring Production
Students participating in the upper school spring production have begun reading scripts and thinking through scenes. Mrs. Warden and Mrs. Griffin will be working with all of these talented young men and women.
2nd Annual Veterans Day Program
On Friday, November 8th, we joined together to celebrate and honor our veterans. We are so very thankful for the sacrifices they have made to ensure our freedoms.
THANK YOU, VETERANS!
Thank you Mrs. Warden, Mrs. Wilkins, and Mrs. Griffin for organizing such a wonderful program!
Movie Night
Several students met up to watch "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" with Mrs. Warden and Mrs. Griffin. What a fun way to look back on last year's play and remember how much fun it is to hang out together!
1st CCS Athletes to Make State Competition
Congratulations to Elisabeth DeCicco and Garret Scheer on being the first CCS student athletes to qualify for a state competition in the AHSAA!
On Saturday they competed at the State Cross Country meet at the Oakville Indian Mounds. Elisabeth finished 20th and Garrett finished 58th. Both did an outstanding job and we are so very proud of their performance this season under the guidance of Coach Smothers.
1st Games of the Season
Basketball teams, youth and upper school, tipped off the season this week. Basketball season is a busy time, but we sure love seeing our Lions compete.
A few things that we always want to remember:
- We want to compete with Christlike character on and off the court. This means using kind language, helping players up when they fall, and having a good attitude - win or lose.
- We want to leave places we visit cleaner than when we got there. This means picking up trash out of the bleachers and cleaning up any messes we made.
- We want to cheer for our Lions with encouraging words. It's easy to get excited in the stands as we watch competitions, but we always want to make sure that the words we are saying are encouraging to our players, people sitting around us, and the opposing team.
