Cobra Strike
From the Desk of the Junior/Senior High School Principal
"We are going to put on a small fireworks show" Derek Plowman
Well another uneventful homecoming has come and gone. Too bad we couldn't come up with a few fun things to do this week.....oh wait. Holy criminy was this week packed with great things. From the spirit week attire of students be a huge success, or the after school activities this week, man we couldn't ask for more. From dances to explosions we had it all. Let's take it by the numbers shall we. We will do this in a bit of reverse order here.
For starters, I want to talk about that King and Queen dance. When Kade and Kammy took to the dance floor in the traditional fashion surrounded by the phone lights, it was had to hold back the water works for a lot of us. I only got to know these two for the past three years andI feel like I missed out. Firstly, Kammy Is always there in the morning to give me a big hug and tell me what is going on that day. She has been a ball of positive energy for everyone she is around for so long as I have been here. I know the rest of the staff feel the same way I do about her and we were all very excited that the students felt the same way that we do. And when it comes to Kade, well I could easily win an argument that there isn't a more kind and caring student in that whole building. I have gotten to know him over the past three years and have gotten to witness countless times his heart in action. There are so many instances of his demonstrating this that I can't even properly list them. He is just a genuinely good person. I feel privileged that I have gotten to know these two for as much time as I did get. Now knowing this, try watching the below video without a few tears popping out. This video is courtesy of Mrs. Sides who sent it to me through tears herself. This on the heels of doing a great job this week of handling all the activities that the Stuco rep has to handle on homecoming week.

From the first day to the last day, It's a great day to be a COBRA!

Homecoming Court
Just take a look at that good looking group of gentlemen and ladies. Man what a great representation of the senior class. Ava, Taylor, Mak, and Kammy all looked lovely. And the boys took a break from handing it to P. Ridge to escort them out onto the field. It was a perfect ceremony and they all looked so amazing.
SMALL FIREWORKS SHOW!!!
When Derek Plowman reached out to us and said that Pyro Party was going to donate a small fireworks show for the homecoming game, I was expecting your standard show of fireworks. I was not expecting ten minutes of non stop fireworks set to music that flew every which direction and totally engulfed our senses the entire time. And when Derek told me to expect a surprise, the giant fireball was not remotely something I was expecting. That whole things was incredible. It put one heck of an exclamation point on the night. https://fb.watch/v2t8uHhNBI/
The Big Game
The game itself was a demonstration from the boys of their skills. If you check back in later this week on the Cobra Cast, there will be some highlights as well as a few preview items on there as well as the coach Wick show that has become a weekly entry this year.
PEP
The pep rally was in two stages this time around. First the middle school cheerleaders held a middle school pep rally as the elementary students came over, which was great, Then we rolled right into the high school pep rally where the candidates had their competition and then we rewarded the most spirit among students. We also acknowledged Coach Visocsky's 400th win at the rally with a gift from the school as well as a special gift from the Cobra Backers.
It was a lot of fun to combine the whole district to see how much cheer there is in the school and how much pride we have as a community.
Bonfire and Bash
The bonfire is one of my favorite old school homecoming traditions that we have been doing here. There isn't anything to it more than just the community getting to enjoy each others company around a fire, but thats kind of the point all around. We just enjoy each others company.
Meanwhile, the car bash was a lot of fun as students get to take out some frustrations on an old car. It is odd how much fun it is to smack a car with a sledge hammer, but yes it is.
Thats not Sasquatch
PowderPuff
This year's powderpuff game was probably them most fun I have had watching the PP game so far. The halftime show from the boys was great too with the boys having a cheer off. I think the pyramid was a big better on one side versus the other though. It was a fun night where we get to see the girls do their thing.
Who's got spirit?
Spirit week this week was just great. The students really showed off their spirit all week and I was proud to be a cobra this week.

Cobra Cup House Events
Man oh man this past week saw two competitions for the houses. First was in school spirit and I was greatly pleased with just how much students participated in spirit days this year.
Corn Fed Cobras: 70%
Snake Kingz: 52%
Gold Rush: 50%
Triple G: 40%
Next, at the pep rally, each house came up with a house cheer to show their spirit and it was decided by a an applause meter provided by the elementary students cheering and finally chosen by Stryker. Here are the final results
1st place: Triple G
since I can speak snake, Stryker told me that there was a tie for second
2nd place: Snake Kingz and Corn Fed Cobras
3rd place: Gold Rush
TAKE PRIDE!
Cobra Cup: House Points
Some spotlight students in each house this week were:
House Corn Fed Cobra: Kammy Dieckmann for a strong display of integrity as she found a wallet in the bathroom and found the owner.
House Gold Rush: Ethan Gullota for staying behind to help when someone had a car vail to start. He and his brother stayed until the patron was able to get her car started before leaving.
House Snake Kingz: Duke Condo Fan of the game Friday Night.
House Triple G: Paeyten Singleton For showing integrity and doing the right thing even though those around her were not.

Forget about what was going on out there on the field, the real game was going on in the stands with the moms (in particular Britt) trying to keep these boys clean long enough to do their crown bearer thing at halftime. Somehow they did it. Followed immediately by giant stains on Hank's shirt when he finally got to go to the concession stand later. However, he was still clean at halftime and that is all that matters. Everly, Kessley, Casen, and Hank all looked great.
a great day to be a Cobra!!
