Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
Weekly Updates! September 23-October 4
Hello Hamilton Families,
Thank you all so much for coming out to our family night on Friday. A BIG thank you to our PTA, teachers and volunteers that supported this event. It was wonderful to see so many Hamilton Families enjoying the great event! Congratulations to Audrey and her family for winning the raffle ticket prize!
We have another fun family event this week on Thursday, we will host our Ann Arbor Hands On Museum Family Science Night from 5-7pm. This is a free event for the whole family!
Parking Lot-Arrival-Dismissal safety
Thank you for your understanding with our parking lot procedures. Now that we are brining the students in at 8:15 it has made the parking lot flow much better. We still have a few kinks to work out but overall it is much better. One way to continue to make the traffic flow is to remember to pull all the way to the curb before letting your child out. Also, remember that you must be in a parking space if you are getting out of the drivers seat. We have to work together to make Hamilton safe for everyone.
Safety Drills
We have been practicing our safety drills already this year which is one of our proactive strategies to make sure we are always keeping safety first. As you know we recently had to go into a soft lock down due to a woman that was experiencing a medical issue outside of the building. Our students and staff followed exactly as they have been taught to make sure everyone was safe! When an event like this occurs a communication will come via Dojo or our email system, phone calls are not made to each parent as that is not feasible with nearly 500 students. However, if you or your child have a concern that you would like to talk over, always feel free to reach out to me via email, dojo or phone call.
Here are links to 3 documents provided by the district to give more detailed information regarding our safety procedures.
Dismissal
Please be aware that our school dismisses at 3:20, please be here by that time. Students will exit their grade level door unless prior arrangements have been made. If you arrive between 3:10-3:20 to pick your child up early you will need to go to your child's grade level door. Early pick ups between 3:10-3:20 are causing communication issues and delays at the end of the day. Going forward there will be no early pick ups between 3:10-3:20 in the office, after 3:10 you will have to wait for students to come out their grade level door. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding,

Transportation
Thank you for your understanding and patients with the recent bus route cancellations. The transportation department is doing all they can to hire more drivers ( if you know someone looking for a job send them to wwcsd.net to fill out an application). Route cancellations are communicated via email as early as possible, the email will be sent to the email you have on file on your students profile. If you are not getting those emails please notify me right away. Also when available I will make a class Dojo post with the route information.
The district has an app called Here Comes the Bus. This wonderful free app allows you to track exactly where you child's bus is at all times.
