Mr. Mauck's Musings
Tomorrow is the JHS Prom held at the Klubhaus 61. Doors will open for pictures at 6 until 7:30. Prom begins at 8 and will end at 11. For Post Prom the athletic doors will open at 11:30 until 12:30. This is an exciting time for our students and families and we want everyone to have fun and stay safe. I have had some Seniors tell me we only have 7 Monday's left in the school year. We have included the finals schedule for the last week of school. Vocational students should have their classes complete by that week and will attend all classes, review sessions, and tests for which they have a scheduled JHS class. Commencement will be May, 23rd at 6:30 with the doors opening at 5:45. There are commencement picture and video forms attached below.
We had some exciting events going on this week. Congratulations to Aiden Truelove and Mr. John Goebel our Student and Staff of the Week winners. The "Thundercats" our robotics team competed in their final contest of the year and did well. Mrs. Beier's culinary class had their cupcake war competition. Our Ed Professions club went to Indy for a Be a Teacher Day recruitment event. The Young Latinos Unidos club hosted Latino students from Southridge and Forest Park for a shared day with a focus on planning for their futures. The faculty promoted prom by having Fancy Friday and a Prom Parade during homeroom. The JHS Band hosted all of the 5th grade students for a recruitment performance in the Main Gym. They will also hold Color Guard tryouts for new members. No experience is necessary. Next week JHS will hold the final theatrical performance of the year, "The Outsiders" at 2 on April 13th. This is a show completely done by the students. Today was National School Librarian Appreciation Day. To celebrate Mrs. Burns displayed a wonderful array of student art work. We have our own art show in the library. Thank you to Mrs. Burns for all of her hard work and exquisite decorations and displays.
Next week is Riley Week! Join us in celebration by participating in next week's (April 7-11) dress up days! A flier has all the information and the date and time of the event. The group is looking to beat last years total of over $32,000. The Jasper Arts is hosting Chalk Walk downtown. This is a fun event for all ages. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Crisis Connection has provided us with information to raise awareness at school, work, and home. The Dubois County Museum invites chess players to come to the museum on Saturday, April 12, anytime from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to play chess with other players as they host a Day of Chess. It is open to all ages and the cost is the price of admission to the museum which is $5 per adult, $3 per high school student and $2 for middle school. Chess boards and pieces will be provided by the museum. You are welcome to bring your own sets. The day is hosted by Joe “Swampy” Schoenbachler.
Have a great weekend and Go Cats!

This week's Staff of the Week is Mr. John Goebel
Thank you for making Jasper High School Great.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid site is now open for Students and Parents to complete their applications for next year. Any student considering attending college should complete the FAFSA to be eligible for financial assistance. I would encourage all families to fill out a application regardless of need as many colleges require FAFSA completion for all types of assistance. Many schools require submission for competitive non-need based scholarships or grants. The application is much easier than in the past. Click on the link for more information and to complete your application. FAFSA

Be A Teacher Day
Jasper High School’s Educators Rising club recently attended Be a Teacher Day at the Fishers Event Center in Fishers, Indiana. This inspiring event focused on the Education and Training pathway, providing students with the opportunity to connect with college programs from across the state. Throughout the day, students participated in sessions on choosing a college, paying for their education, and exploring careers in teaching and early childhood education. The event concluded with a keynote speaker who encouraged future educators on their journey. To cap off the day, students attended an Indy Fuel hockey game, enjoying a fun and memorable experience together. This event was a fantastic opportunity for JHS students to explore their passion for education and prepare for their future careers!

Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is a big month for Crisis Connection, Inc. as we bring awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and specifically April 30th, Denim Day. This is a day when millions across the world join together to wear denim with a purpose and support victims of sexual assault. This campaign began after a ruling by an Italian Supreme Court, overturned a rape conviction because the justices felt since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, therefore giving consent. The women in the Italian Parliament the following day wore jeans in solidarity with the victim. Crisis Connection, Inc., now asks for your help in raising awareness for sexual assault.
How can you help Crisis Connection, Inc.?
- Share the attached informational flier with your employees.
- Allow employees to wear denim, pay $1 and donate to Crisis Connection, Inc.
- Or simply take a picture of your employees wearing their denim, post it on your social media and tag Crisis Connection Inc. or send them to malea@crisisconnectioninc.org to allow Crisis Connection to post them to show your support.
- Sign up for our quarterly newsletter. https://www.crisisconnectioninc.org/contactus.html
