This will be the final newsletter of the school year. We hope you had a great experience this year at Addams ECC! Each year we are all amazed at the growth each child demonstrates...physically, emotionally and academically! We appreciated the trust you have in us and do not take it lightly that you share your children with us each day.

If you are returning to the ECC this fall or headed off to another adventure, we hope you enjoy your summer and wish you an easy transition into your new school!

Description

Join Marshbank Park for some free, musical fun at Kids Komotion Concerts, which feature interactive children’s entertainment and inflatables. There will be snacks and refreshments available to purchase. Leonardo Music is on May 15, the Steve and Trish is on June 12 and Rick & Dayna's Playhouse is on Aug. 21. No registration is required.

Many families have inquired about support for Thomas Cooper's family or how we can remember him here at the ECC. Catherine Duma (a former Green Frog mom) has volunteered to help gather funds and arrange the purchase of a few playground additions. As many of you know Thomas LOVED playing outside and everything about science and nature exploration. To honor Thomas we hope to add two magnifying stations, a root garden/worm farm with plaques attached remembering Thomas. Please see the photo below to learn more details and access Mrs. Duma's Venmo.

Schools of Choice (SOC) applications are now available. If you do not live in Royal Oak, but live in Oakland County and would like your child to attend Royal Oak Schools for kindergarten you MUST complete a Schools of Choice Application. This application is only available for a limited time, March 10th through April 8th. This does not guarantee enrollment or placement at a specific elementary building. Kindergarten/Developmental Kindergarten Fall 2025:

Jan. 30th each elementary school will host a Kindergarten Information Night at 6:30. Parents and guardians should attend their home school (School Map).

Enrollment for kindergarten/developmental kindergarten for Royal Oak Residents begins Feb. 3rd. Current ECC families do not have to complete the entire online enrollment. Only a few documents will need to be uploaded, more information will be shared as the date approaches.

Schools of Choice Applications will be open March 10 - April 8. Any non-resident student interested in attending Royal Oak School for kindergarten must complete an application.

GSRP/4 Year-Old Full Day Preschool Fall 2025:

All current ECC families are considered "priority enrollment" for GSRP regardless of income. There are two phases to enrollment for GSRP. Step 1--complete an application with MiECC. This is the online portal used for all GSRP students throughout Oakland County. Once all information has been uploaded you will be assigned to Addams ECC. Our office will contact you to complete Phase 2 of the enrollment process. Our program will be 5 full days beginning Fall 2025!

QR Codes are posted on the doors to help with this process. Below are very simple and quick (2 minutes) videos to help you all become more familiar. As a parent you are able to add any and all contacts to your child's Brightwheel account. Also, your unique 4-digit code is found in the profile section of the app. You can change this code to any 4-digits.

Program Cell Phone: 248-321-8220 (only available during program hours, no texting).

Friday Care Families--Please remember to send 2 snacks and a lunch with your child. All items must be labeled with your child's name. Also, please remember to send a small blanket and pillow. Those in full day programs will move your child's rest bag to their Friday Care locker.

Parents will enter through our ECC main office (door #27). Extended Care begins at 7:30 and ends at 5:30 which is outside of our main office hours. You will call our program cellphone or ring our doorbell to notify staff you have arrived. If you are within the normal office hours, you will be buzzed in by office staff.

When you arrive please place your child's items in their "Extended Care Lockers" which are located right outside the main office. This is also where you will gather your child's belongings if they stay for After Care. The Extended Care Program is housed in room 108, the Gray Elephant Classroom! (also known as the Gross Motor Room or GMR).

“Blessings in a Backpack” is a program designed to provide students on the free and reduced lunch program with enough food for three meals a day during the weekends. This program, sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester, is active in Royal Oak Schools. If you agree to take part in this program during the school year, your child will receive a bag filled with food for the weekend.
