Book Fair
It's time for our Scholastic Book Fair!
February 12, 13, 14 in library classes, recess (on the 13th and 14th) and after school until 3:30
During conference days:
February 17--8:00-3:30
February 18-- 8:00-2:00
This is a fundraising event for our library that gives students access to a wide selection of inexpensive books (along with journals, bookmarks, posters, and writing tools).
The book fair will be open during library class, recess, after school, and on conference days. We need volunteers during library classes to help make the book fair go smoothly. Email your student's teacher or Ms. Brann (diana.brann@juneauschools.org) to sign up for a volunteer slot. Volunteers will help with tasks such as helping students find books, reading to students, helping with wish lists, or helping with the register.
Activate an e-Wallet for your student(s), a cashless account that you can set up ahead of time! It is easy to set up by visiting our book fair homepage here . Look for the e-Wallet button at the bottom of the page. For a video with more information, go here
**A new e-Wallet must be set up for each fair. If your child had $ left over from our Spring fair you should have received a gift card from Scholastic. These can be easily converted into a new e-wallet by going to our book fair website.**
If you would like to contribute to our school wide book fund so that every child can buy a book you will have the opportunity to contribute to the Share the Fair fund after setting up an eWallet.

After School Program at Cedar Park & Geneva Woods
Zach Gordon Youth Center is very excited to announce the launch of two new neighborhood after-school programs, starting in February at Cedar Park and Geneva Woods. The programs will offer free, on-site programming for children and youth ages 6-12, meeting children and families in the neighborhoods where they live to provide a safe, fun, and supportive environment after school.
“Providing after school programming at Cedar Park and Geneva Woods feels like a natural expansion of our services,” said ZGYC Manager Jorden Nigro. “Our mission to connect youth and engage the community is one that involves meeting folks where they’re at, and with this program, we will be able to do that quite literally. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to be a part of the day to day in these neighborhoods and grateful to AHFC for inviting us in.”
At each program location, children can get help with homework, have healthy snacks, and join activities such as cooking, arts & crafts, games, field trips, and more. Older siblings age 13-14 are welcome and encouraged to join as helpers and mentors, and programs will host monthly family nights. These programs are made possible by funding from the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation.
Programming in both neighborhoods will be offered from 2:30 – 5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Cedar Park program will meet at Cedar Park Apartments Unit 2A, and the Geneva Woods program will meet at the Geneva Woods Community Center.
The programs kick off on Monday, February 3. For questions about the Cedar Park program, contact Sophia Helge at sophia.helge@juneau.gov or (907) 419-9152.
