Join U-46 for Our Strategic Planning Sessions!
We invite all Spring Trail families to participate in an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our educational experience. Our school district is working on a 5 to 10-year strategic plan, and we need your input to ensure that our school meets the needs of every student and family.
Why It’s Important:
Your voice matters! The decisions we make today will impact our schools for years to come. By participating, you’ll help guide our district’s priorities, programs, and resources.
Please represent our school at one of the following sessions from 6 to 8 p.m.:
Tuesday, Oct. 22, at South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main St. in South Elgin,
Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Elgin High School, 1200 Maroon Dr. in Elgin
Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave. in Elgin
Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the U-46 Welcome Center, 1019 E. Chicago St. in Elgin. This session will be presented in Spanish, with English translation available.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all of our families who attended Parent Teacher Conferences last week. We had a great turn out for all of our classrooms. Spring Trail Teachers truly appreciate your partnership as we navigate the school year. If you ever have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to teachers. Our teachers will always respond within the first 48 hours.
What's Happening in School?
Miss Caputo's Classroom
In preparation for parent teacher conferences, Miss Caputo's students worked on self evaluating their academic performance. The students were able to reflect on their performance in reading, writing, math, and much more.
Mr. Krause and I love to see that our students are reflecting on their perfomance. The children know how they are performing and are beginning to reflect on where they can improve. This is something that you may be throughout our school as it is one of our school improvement goals.
Mrs. Emro's Classroom
Last week, in Mrs. Emro's class I had the opportunity to witness students hard at work in math. The goal for students was to use addition and subtraction to solve real world problems and relate counting to addition. The kids were doing a fantastic job working together to support this goal!
Walk and Roll to School
Walk and Roll to school was a huge success. It was a pleasure seeing all of our families and students make their way together to school. We love seeing our students lead healthy lifestyles through exercise! Let's keep it up, kiddos!
STEM Expo Opportunity
We hope you will consider playing a vital role in helping us recruit students to participate in the U46 STEM Expo. To help get our students ready the Office of K-12 Science & Planetarium offers a series of 3 Kick-Off Events. You can help us spread the word!
During these events, parents and students will learn about the U46 Science Curriculum, be introduced to Phenomena, meet local scientists/naturalists, and get ideas for potential STEM Projects. Parents and teachers can complete this form to get additional details, and Zoom links will be sent directly to your email.
Halloween is COMING!!!!
Some of our classrooms will be hosting Halloween parties in our buildings this year! You can reach out to your child's teacher to see how or if you can support them. If you are planning to attend the party to help out, please make sure you bring your license with you. We will have to run your license through our Raptor system in order for you to stay in the building. We thank you for your support in maintaining the safety of all of our students.
Please note across the district we are encouraging students to make good choices around healthy eating and physical activity to promote positive outcomes. With that said, U-46 will continue this practice by promoting holiday celebrations with non-food items. To stay aligned with the USDA's Smart Snacks requirements, we will not allow food-related celebrations nor distribute snacks to students to eat in the classroom during the party.
Halloween Costume Guidelines
There are a few guidelines we would like to share regarding Halloween costumes in an effort to promote a safe and respectful experience for students of all ages.
✓Students should plan to come to school with their Halloween costumes in their backpacks.
✓Students will be given an opportunity to change into their costumes prior to the parade.
✓All costumes should be non-violent and any prop or mask that is thought to be gory, violent, or dangerous should be kept at home.
✓Please also refrain from using any fake blood and absolutely no weapons are allowed on school property.
✓Your child can wear make-up to school with their costume however it should be appropriate. Teachers will not have time to apply any make-up for students.
✓Spring Trail personnel reserve the right to alter a student’s costume if they are inappropriate or if they go against the included guidelines.
Halloween Parade
We will be hosting our Halloween parade once again! The parade will begin at 1:45pm inside the school and we will make our way outside toward the playground. Parents we invite you to attend the parade by forming a line outside the building beginning at Door 1 and around the school! The children really enjoy seeing one another in their costumes and it makes it even more fun when parents attend! See you there!
Attendance Awareness
Did You Know???
Attendance has been a large focus for all of Illinois especially since the Pandemic. We have been working hard to ensure students are here and present for school each and every day. Unfortunately, our attendance percentages are starting to drop which means we need your help!!
Additionally, we want all parents to understand that every minute a student is late begins to add up throughout the school year. This means that if you are tardy by 1 minute each day, after 15 days of this the tardies will equal a half day absence.
Should you have difficulties getting your child to school or need assistance in any way, please know we are always here to support our families. Feel free to reach out to Mrs. Dupuis, Mr. Krause or either of our social workers (Miss Giannelli or Miss Kowalska) to assist with concerns. Together we can make every minute matter!
Teacher Shout Outs
Shout OUT to Miss Boese
This weeks teacher shout out is to Miss Boese from Mrs. O'Donnell! Mrs. O'Donnell shared the following on behalf of her daughter....
Miss Boese is a very nice music teacher. She is always explaing stuff very nicely. She always has a very nice tone and is funny. She always rewards people for at least trying to get an awnser even if it is wrong. She always greets us with good mornig or good afternoon and she always gives people at least three chances instead of just yelling at people to stop or move. Mrs bosse is the sweetest music teacher.-Avery o
We agree with Avery, Miss Boese is a very nice teacher and she really loves teaching our students! Congratulations, Miss Boese! Keep up the fantastic work!
