See this comedian's take on this important question by clicking here. We work hard all year long. Now the weather is warmer and the outdoors are wide open to explore. Learning and language opportunities are everywhere. Take time to breathe, jump, run, build, climb, swim, hike, bike, garden, and play. This article written by Kim Hart and featured in AAA State of Play provides 27 reasons why summertime play is essential and ideas for activities. Read full article here . Excerpt below.
Why Do Students Benefit From Summer Break?
Think back on childhood memories of summer playtime, adventure, leisure time to discover hobbies, and spending time with friends. Not only are these memories priceless, but the times we spent playing during the summer were actually fundamental to every aspect of developing into who we are today. Child development happens in moments of freedom — free play, free choice, and free time. AAA State of Play has gathered quotes and research on the benefits of summer play to encourage parents, communities, and educators to provide more opportunities for self-guided summers. Summer camp benefits are also explored along with why summer vacation is important.
