Cabinet Column - Farewell and a Bright Future Ahead
As Fargo Public Schools concludes the 2024-25 school year, and Superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi finishes his seven-year superintendency of Fargo Public Schools, Dr. Gandhi thanks the community for embracing him and his family, looks back on his final year with FPS, and expresses confidence that the District will continue to thrive going forward.

Feature Column - Important Reminders for Lunch Accounts and Summer Meal Programs
With the school year ending today, parents are reminded to check their children's lunch account. Account information can be accessed by logging into the PowerSchool parent portal and clicking on SchoolPay. Parents should also be aware that there are opportunities for students to receive free meals and grocery assistance this summer.

Powerade Softball Senior Athlete of the Year
Congratulations to North High School Senior Aubrey King on being named North Dakota Class A Softball Powerade Senior Athlete of the Year! King received the award at the NDHSAA Class A Softball Tournament on Saturday at Albrecht Field in Grand Forks.
EDC Golf Senior Athlete of the Year
Congratulations to Davies Senior Porter Seidel on being named the Eastern Dakota Conference Boys Golf Senior Athlete of the Year! Seidel received the award at the East Region Boys Golf Tournament on May 28 at Bois de Sioux Golf Course in Wahpeton.
Class A Baseball Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Davies High School Baseball Coach Hans Anderson on being named the NDHSCA Class A Baseball Coach of the Year! Anderson received the award at at the NDHSAA Class A Baseball Tournament on Saturday at Kraft Field in Grand Forks.
AFJROTC Distinguished Unit Award
Congratulations to the Fargo Public Schools Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit ND-20061 on being awarded the Distinguished Unit Award by the Headquarters AFJROTC. This is the second-consecutive year the unit has earned this award and seventh time overall.
To qualify for this award, the unit must average 16 hours of community service per cadet, receive a score of 87 or higher on the annual Unit Assessment, and not be on probation for any reason.
AFJROTC Outstanding Instructor Award
Congratulations to Chief Master Sergeant James Gibson on receiving the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Outstanding Instructor Award by Headquarters AFJROTC. The award recognizes the best of the best AFJROTC instructors and honors their contributions and impact on their cadets, school, and community.
North Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year
Congratulations to Latin Teacher Kathy Strand on being North High School Teacher of the Year and to School Resource Officer Nick Powell-Calhoun on being named North High School Support Staff of the Year! Strand and Powell-Calhoun were presented the awards, which are voted on by students, by the North Student Council at the school's Academic Awards Banquet.

Self-Directed Academy Now Enrolling for Fall 2025
The Fargo Public Schools Self-Directed Academy is now enrolling students in Grades 5-8 for Fall 2025. Students who may be a good fit for SDA possess intrinsic motivation to learn, set personal goals, and take ownership of their own learning.
The Self-Directed Academy learning model is built on the principle that learning should be self-directed, competency-based, and not confined by traditional time constraints. Project-Based Learning is embedded throughout the program, empowering students to have choice and voice in what they learn. It emphasizes mastery of concepts through personalized learning pathways facilitated by students, teachers and cutting-edge technology.

Virtual Academy Now Enrolling for Fall 2025
The Fargo Public Schools Virtual Academy is now enrolling students in Grades K-12 for Fall 2025. Online learning opens the door to a flexible, personalized education right from the comfort of your own home.
Online learning is more than just logging into a computer - it's a structured, engaging, and student centered experience. Successful online learners are self-starters, organized, responsible, confident communicators, tech-savvy explorers, flexible, and resilient.

The Mental Health Series from ParentGuidance.org is a powerful resource designed to support family mental health and well-being. Experts agree that adult involvement is important in a child's success. When caregivers have helpful tools, it benefits children, strengthens families, and contributes to a thriving community. Tickets on Sale Now for Trollwood's Mamma Mia!
Tickets for Trollwood Performing Arts School's Mainstage Musical production of Mamma Mia! are available now. Tickets are available here.
Driven by the songs of chart-topping pop sensations, ABBA. Mamma Mia! tells the story of a daughter's quest to identify her father so that he can be present and walk her down the aisle in her idyllic wedding in Greece. It is an unforgettable tale of love, laughter, and friendship.

Bruin Bash
The students and staff at South High School celebrated the end of the school year with the schoolwide festival, the Bruin Bash, on Wednesday, May 28. The Bruin Bash featured an art show with art created by South students; a health science open house featuring an Anatomage Table, CPR mannequins, and choking vests; and a Cruz-In auto show featuring student vehicles, police vehicles, military vehicles, and industrial equipment. Students participated in activities such as a badminton tournament, karaoke, board games, rock painting, spike ball, cornhole, and a teacher dunk tank. The day concluded with a students vs. staff dodgeball game.
Day of Northside Pride
North High School hosted the Day of Northside Pride on Wednesday, May 28. The celebration brought North's students and staff together one last time before the end of the school year. The Day of Northside Pride featured a tour of seniors walking through elementary schools in caps and gowns; an academic awards banquet; a Technical Education Open House and grill out; and schoolwide activities, including a dunk tank, video games, puzzles, spikeball, four square, minnow races, a long drive golf simulator, cornhole, Sumo bounce balls, Hammerschlagen, and more.
Touchmark Memory Care Residents Visit CBE for Sing-a-Along
Residents of Touchmark Memory Care will visit the Period 6 choir sectionals on Tuesday, May 27 for a performance of a collection of songs that should be familiar to them. The middle school choir students have prepared memorable songs, including “You Are My Sunshine,” “Stand By Me,” “Amazing Grace,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and more with the hopes that their guests would know the songs and sing along. The students learned that they can use their talents to serve others, that music can have a positive impact on the world beyond their classes and concerts, and the importance of kindness and community connection.

Fargo Public Library Summer Reading Challenge
The Fargo Public Library is hosting its annual Summer Reading Challenge this summer from June 9 through August 23. This summer's theme is Color Our World. Kids and teens can participate by registering and logging into the Fargo Public Library Beanstack app and completing reading activities and challenges to earn prizes. Creative Writing

Ice Bucket Challenge
Centennial Support
The Davies High School softball and baseball teams got some special support on their way out of Fargo as they went to their respective state tournaments. Community Garden
Jefferson Elementary School is partnering with Fargo Cass Public Health on a community garden. The school's fifth graders kicked off the project by planting and caring for seedlings. Once the seedlings were ready, they transferred them to the garden beds. (Photo courtesy Beth Olson)
Glow Up

Davies Elementary Walk-Throughs
Davies High School seniors took a trip back in time as they visited their elementary schools ahead of this weekend's graduation ceremony. The students donned their caps and gowns and walked through the halls at Kennedy Elementary School, Ed Clapp Elementary School, Centennial Elementary School, Eagles Elementary School, and Bennett Elementary School as students and staff clapped for them and celebrated their achievements. South PRANK Day
South High School’s senior prank was to give back to the elementary schools that set the path for their futures and helped shape the individuals they have grown into on Senior PRANK (People Really Appreciate Nice Kids) Day. The seniors volunteered to help out at the Jefferson Elementary School cross country meet, the Lewis & Clark Elementary School field day, and the Lincoln Elementary School field day. After volunteering, they returned to South for a senior picnic.
