Fundations 101
Westerville City Schools
Wilson Language training is to help students become fluent, accurate readers. Fundations for K-3 is a phonology, phonics, spelling program that is complimentary to most language arts programs and includes the basic components of the Wilson Reading System. Rather than replace core curriculum, Fundations combines its research validated program design with installed core programs to meet federal standards and serve the needs of children.
In this program, emphasis is placed on systematic phonics and the study of word structure. All skills are taught explicitly and systematically. Instruction is cumulative and scaffolds all presented skills.
The Wilson Fundations program is adopted by the WCS Board and should be implemented in all K-2 classrooms with fidelity. Grade 3 has the option to implement the program as well, but it is not required for grade 3 at this time. All of the materials shared during your WCS district Fundations training are included below.
If your Fundations kit is being passed down to you from another teacher, please use this link to get it registered into your name and get access to all of the online components of Fundations.
