NEWS FROM DR. COOPER
Hello Neihardt Families,
Thank you to everyone who came to our October Family Engagement Night on Tuesday night. We enjoyed seeing so many families for pancakes, pumpkin voting and our pumpkin painting craft. Congratulations to our winning pumpkins! Mrs. Duncan won favorite pumpkin and Mrs. Ranslem won for most creative. Check out their awesome pumpkins below!
Save the date for our next family night on Thursday, November 21st for Turkey Bingo at Millard South from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We are restructuring this event so be on the lookout for the flyer next Friday.
Have a great weekend,
Dr. Tara Cooper

WEEKLY BIST REPORT
As we enter the 2nd quarter, our Knights have become familiar with Neihardt’s school rules: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind. We refer to these rules throughout the school day and you may have heard phrases coming home such as Expected Behaviors, Safe Seat, or Think Sheet to name a few. These are all examples of BIST language that staff use with students to provide consistency with school rules and expectations.
Each week in the newsletter we will share tidbits of information around BIST and provide an explanation of these terms and how they are used at school so that you, too, have the information and know the terminology we are using at school to help all of our students be successful.

HALLOWEEN PARADE AND COSTUME INFORMATION
Halloween Parade and Costume Information
We will have a Halloween Parade at school Thursday, October 31, from 3:05- 3:15 p.m. Parents are welcome to come watch the parade. Classroom parties will be handled by teachers and staff. The parade will take place outside. Students will exit the building out the front doors and proceed west on Drexel Street and proceed down 152nd and reenter the west side doors.
Below are our guidelines for costumes.
1. Costumes should come to school in a bag or sack with your child's name written on the outside. Children should not wear costumes to school in the morning.
2. Costumes should be age appropriate, no weapons, no fake blood. Questions about costumes may be directed to Dr. Cooper before the parade. On the day of the parade, questionable costumes will be sent to the office and phone calls made home.
3. No face makeup will be used for the school parade. It is uncomfortable and disruptive to wear all day. Students will not be allowed to put on face paint or hairspray at school.
4. We do not have enough restroom space for all students to change into their costumes in the privacy of a restroom. Students should be able to put their costume on in their classrooms.
5. Children do not have to wear costumes. Students without costumes can still
walk in the parade.
6. Parents wanting to come observe the parade are invited to do so. Please plan to arrive between 3:05-3:15 to observe the parade outside. There is no need to check in at the office.
Students will return to the classroom following the parade to gather belonging. Dismissal will follow as usual at 3:30. Parents are asked to wait outside until students are dismissed.
