November 2024 Edition
Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Guardians and Significant Adults-
There have been many happenings at Sequoia/PGS and HS Online Options this month. Sequoia and Port Gardner are wrapping up Spirit Week based on the works of Tim Burton (SHS) and Dr. Seuss (PGS). During the month, there have also been presentations by RAP (Regional Apprenticeship Pathways) and Sno Isle Tech.
PGS also held their annual Fall Festival complete with student pumpkins decorated based on literary works.
HS Online Options is continuing to innovate and have added new courses to their offerings this year. Interested students and parents are encouraged to view their presentation.
We continue to see students actively engaged in all our programs with all levels of staff who are dedicated to student learning.

We are so pleased to introduce Sahana Prabhu as our October HS Online Options student of the month!
Sahana has exemplified what it means to be an exemplary independent learner and sets the bar high not only for Yoga Core students but for all online learners.
When asked the following 4 questions, this is what Sahana had to say:
What are your academic endeavors?
“In the future, I plan to pursue a degree in computer science, followed by an MBA. My ultimate goal is to enter project management, where I can apply my technical and leadership skills to manage successful projects.”
What are your strengths?
“My strengths include strong leadership and organizational skills which help me effectively manage both academics and extracurriculars. Additionally, I am creative, always willing to explore new ideas and adapt to anything that comes my way.
What hobbies/sports do you enjoy?
“Some of my hobbies include singing, drawing, and baking.”
What would you want people to know about you and what makes you successful as an online learner?
“What makes me successful is my ability to stay focused and persevere through challenges. Furthermore, my commitment to making a positive impact drives me to keep pushing forward, and my attention to detail ensures that I deliver high-quality results in everything I do. These qualities help me stay on track and achieve my goals. One thing I want people to know about me is that I founded Pages of Hope, a community service organization dedicated to empower children in our community. Our goal is to foster a love for learning and help children in need thrive academically. My team and I are currently working on an upcoming book drive to collect and distribute books to the children in need in our community.”
Walk FITT, HS Online Option's Health Class Log Pics taken by Students
Course Descriptions:
In Walk FITT 1, students will experience an increase in cardiorespiratory endurance, core strength, and stamina. These life-changing results will occur over a 12-week period of logging daily steps based on a personalized fitness plan which includes body weight movements to help facilitate a comprehensive approach to walking/step fitness along with a weekly increase in steps. Each student will be expected to track steps using their iPhone or Android step app of choice. Weekly log submissions along with Canvas module assignments are required.
In Walk FITT 2, you will develop a personalized fitness plan based on the number of steps you take a day, focused on your personal goals and log activity for 12 weeks. But before you do that, you will dive into the mechanics of muscles and flexibility. Additionally, you will work together with a group online to complete an ongoing project. This course will challenge you to improve your walk fitness. Tracking steps with a pedometer, weekly and consistent logging is required.
