DMIS Morgan Messenger
Week of Monday, November 4th - Friday, November 8th
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We had a wonderful week wrapping up Red Ribbon Week! Students learned a lot about making healthy choices and staying drug and alcohol-free, all while enjoying each of the dress-up days. Thank you for your support in making this such a memorable experience for our students!
Latinos Unidos-November 4
Weβre excited to announce that Latinos Unidos will be performing for our students during the school day on November 4. This is always a popular event, and we canβt wait to see our students enjoy and celebrate this special occasion.
No School - November 5
A quick reminder that there will be no school for students on November 5 for Election Day. Teachers will be participating in professional development sessions on this day.
Picture Day Retakes
Strawbridge Studios will be back at DMIS on November 7th for fall picture retakes. If youβd like to order photos, you can use this link.
Veterans Day Celebration
With Veterans Day approaching, weβd love to honor veterans within our DMIS families. If you have a veteran in your family and would like them to be recognized, please email me a photo, with their name and relation to our students, or send it via Talking Points, and we will include it in our morning announcements to celebrate these heroes.
DCJS Virginia School Climate and Working Conditions Survey
Starting in January 2025, Daniel Morgan Intermediate School, along with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Virginia Department of Education, will be conducting the Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions. This survey is for all 6th-grade students, as well as classroom instructors and staff, and will focus on student support, engagement, school discipline, and safety.
The survey is completely anonymous; no one, including teachers and administrators, will know how your child answered. You can preview the survey questions here. The survey will include topics such as student relationships, school rules, teacher support, and sensitive subjects, including mental health and bullying. This might be a good opportunity to discuss these topics with your child.
Participation is voluntary. If you prefer that your child does not take part, please notify the school office by December 20. Results from this survey will be shared with schools around the end of the school year and are used to improve school environments across the state.
Thank you for all you do to support our school community! We appreciate each of you, and we hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
Best,
Sam Gates
Principal, Daniel Morgan Intermediate School
