This is the order envelope for SENIOR GRADUATION pictures.
They will be given to the Seniors Graduation week.
Tammy said that if students would like to purchase a picture of the graduating class in addition to their individual picture, it's an additional $5. Students should write 'GROUP' on the envelope & add $5 to the total.
Winning Wednesday
This Wednesday, May 8 will be a HS-wide Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament. Here's how it works:
- Each HS Student & HS Staff member will get a beaded necklace when they get to school on Wednesday morning. We'll have people posted at the Breezeway & South doors.
- If you have a necklace, you can challenge anyone else with a necklace to a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors during passing time or lunch. (If a staff member sees you playing outside of these times, they get your necklaces.)
- Tardy students have to give their necklaces to their rostered teacher.
- If you win the game, you win your opponent's necklace (& vice-versa).
- The person with the most necklaces at the end of the day will receive a Casey's gift card at the Senior Sendoff.

Youth Vaping Resources
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Tobacco Prevention and Control Program is proud to offer confidential tobacco treatment services through My Life My Quit to Missouri youth who want to quit tobacco including electronic cigarettes, vapes, and/or oral nicotine. Please visit Missouri Tobacco Quit Services for more information about adult cessation programs and resources.
New Teen Nicotine Cessation Program: My Life, My Quit offers teens access to a specially trained Quit Coach that will help them build a quit plan, identify triggers, practice refusal skills, and obtain ongoing support for changing behaviors to be free from nicotine. Teens can go to MyLifeMyQuit.com, text "Start My Quit" to 36072 or call 855-891-9989 to enroll for self-guided free, confidential help. Teens can earn incentives along the journey and are encouraged to quit today.
*This is not a module based program.*
Teens can learn more about vaping at BehindTheHazeMO.org.
Are you a parent or guardian with questions about helping your child quit tobacco? Find frequently asked questions and information about the program and the products teens may use on the My Life My Quit website. You may be shocked, hurt or angry if you find out your teen is using a tobacco or nicotine product. Your first instinct may be to confront the teen and discipline them but this might make them even more secretive and unwilling to discuss the issue. It's not easy but having a positive and constructive conversation is the best approach. Here are some tips:
- Learn about tobacco and vaping products. Find reputable information about the products at TobaccoIsChangingMO.org and CDC Empower Vape Free Youth. Learn about cessation options before you approach this issue with your teen.
- Listen to your teen. Ask questions about what they know about tobacco and how they learned this information, how they are exposed to tobacco, and whether they feel pressure to use tobacco. It could take several brief conversations to build up trust with your teen. By listening, you are letting your teen know you care about their health and future.
- Encourage your teen to use available resources to quit using tobacco. The My Life, My Quitâ„¢ program provides free and confidential coaching services to help your teen build their quit plan and receive additional support while quitting.
Parking Expectations
There have been some parking struggles that need to be resolved before the offending drivers lose their driving privileges on campus for up to 30 days. Here are the issues:
- The grass in the South lot is not a designated parking space. Don't park there.
- Don't double park against the guard rail (after lunch is the biggest time this is a problem) in the South lot.
- Don't block vehicles from being able to get out of the South lot.
Fitness Center Expectations
The Fitness Center membership contract states that students who have not graduated must be accompanied by an adult if using the Fitness Center.
Failure to follow this rule can result in the cancelation of the adult's membership and discipline for the student.
Backing the Booster Club
The Slater Booster Club is looking for members!
Our Booster Club is a group of volunteers who join together to provide support to our school and specific school activities. The support provided usually includes recruiting volunteers and raising money. While the club supports the school and its organizations, it is not a school club.
In the past, our Booster Club has purchased requested items for our sports programs, such as indoor practice balls for baseball, a canopy for the Track teams, etc. They also sponsor and supervise the hospitality room for the Wildcat Classic (a room that provides meals for the Administrators, Coaches, Bus Drivers, Officials, and people working at the Wildcat Classic).
You can donate your time or join as a member - levels of membership include:
- $20 membership
- $50 Purple Level membership
- $100 Gold Level membership
If you're interested in joining the Booster Club, you can reach out to James and Jennifer Johnson, Jessica Breshears, Matt Campbell, and the HS Office or watch for information HERE about meetings and opportunities to volunteer.

OLD BUSINESS
Hudl's Format Changes
Our streaming services with Hudl will no longer be going to the Slater School Streaming account on Youtube. All events will now be found on:
https://fan.hudl.com/usa/mo/slater/organization/14160/slater-high-school
This link has been added to our Youtube account's bio in order to send our fans to the appropriate location for games. Fans will also be able to download the "Hudl Fan" app on their smartphones, search Slater High School, and watch the game that way.
Policy Says...
Ms. Crystal will determine if you need to stay at school or go home. If she decides that you need to go home, SHE will call your people and make arrangements for you to leave. (Read: You don't call/text your people - especially before we know you don't feel well.)
Making a List
Here's what the handbook says about GOOD STANDING:
GOOD STANDING
To be considered a student in good standing, a student must not be in violation of the
attendance policy (attendance must be above 90%), have no outstanding discipline referrals OR appear on the current F list.
In order to participate in extracurricular events including (but not limited to): dances,
field trips, school-sanctioned sports events; a student must be in good standing.
Students in grades 6-12 that are not in good standing will have closed lunch and be required
to sign in daily in the cafeteria, where they will remain for the entire lunch period.
The sign in sheet for closed lunch is on the South wall, below the bulletin board. It is up to the student to sign in and remain in the cafeteria during lunch.Failure to stay in the cafeteria for the whole lunch period or sign in (even if you stayed) will result in a CLOSED LUNCH REFERRAL. Here's what the handbook says about CLOSED LUNCH:
CLOSED LUNCH
Failing to stay or sign in for Closed Lunch
Grades 9-12
1. Warning
2. Friday School
3. 1 day in the Transition Room for each day not signed in
Stay in the Loop!
Text notifications will be used to share information about School Closures, Updates to the posted calendar, distribute newsletters, etc.
Your phone number will NOT be shared outside of the Student Information System.
How do I log in to my SIS Student Portal?
We have a new Student Information System (PowerSchool) this year, but it can do everything last year's system could do - and more - like see your schedule, grades, lunch balance, attendance, and MORE!
Where can I park?
Some students won reserved parking spots last May (see the table below), thanks to their Student of the Month achievements and Trivia Contest finishes. Those students have earned the right to paint their spots with a design that they choose (and J Clem approves).
If it’s a painted or reserved spot, don’t park there. You’ll be asked to move. If it’s an open spot, it’s first come, first served.
Spots students CAN’T park:
- The Circle Drive
- Teacher Parking (off of Elm Street, in front of the Elementary Building)
- The Cafeteria Lot
- Reserved Staff Parking in Gravel/Bus lot (South end of lot)
If you’re driving to school, you need an SHS parking pass. You can get one from Ms. Wiseman in the HS Office. They are $5/school year.
The Student Handbook has more info about Driving, Parking, and consequences of violating the rules. Check it out at SlaterSchools.net!
