This month we will be focusing on Responsibility. We will focus primarily on work completion in the classroom as a way to practice being responsible. Teachers will meet with their classrooms to set a work completion goal and when met, it will be your students ticket to the GLOW PARTY at the end of October. Please have some conversations with your student about responsibility. Use these conversation starters at home y en Español.
Drop off & Pick Up Safety
For the safety of all our students, please remember to pick up your child in the school parking lot. Parking across the street and having children cross can be dangerous, as our staff is unable to supervise street crossings. Let’s work together to keep our children safe! Thank you for your cooperation.
Healthy Living: The Magic of Handwashing
Hands are one of the primary ways germs spread. Hand washing can stop the spread of infection. As early as possible, get your child into the habit of washing their hands often and thoroughly. Your child is exposed to bacteria and viruses all day long. Frequent hand washing is key to helping your child stay healthy and prevent the spread of illness to others.
When to Wash Hands:
- Before, during, and after preparing food
- Before and after eating food
- After using the bathroom
- After blowing nose, coughing or sneezing
- When hands are visibly dirty
- After playing outside
- After touching an animals or their cages
- Before and after treating a cut
- After touching garbage
How to Wash Hands Effectively:
1. Wet your hands: Use clean, running water.
2. Apply Soap: Lather your hands by rubbing them together with soap, making sure to cover all surfaces.
3. Scrub for at least 20 seconds: Scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers and under your nails. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
4. Rinse hands: Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5. Dry your hands: Use a clean towel or an air dryer to your hands completely.

Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to get rid of germs in most situations. If soap and water are not readily available and hands are not visibly dirty, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. You can tell if the sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol by looking at the product label.
By teaching your children about the importance of hand washing, you're helping protect their health and the health of those around them!
7:30pm "Bath, Books, and Bed"!
It is time to get back into those summer routines! Please develop a home routine that prioritizes learning. Bathing, then reading (at least 20 minutes a day), and then bed time is one great routine. Experts recommend 9-12 hours of sleep for elementary aged students.
Every Friday! Rep Hispanic Heritage Attire
Each Friday during Hispanic Heritage Month, wear something that honors Hispanic culture!
Participate in Early Voting this Month!
During the first half of 2024, more than 2,500 community members collaborated on a plan to continue to improve our aging school buildings. The final $64M community-driven plan will go to you, the voter, for approval as a referendum question on the Nov. 5 ballot. If successful, the referendum will:
- Increase Safety & Security throughout Barrington 220
- Build a New Community Auditorium at Barrington High School
- Enhance STEAM and Instructional Spaces for Students
Traditional early voting at polling locations in the Barrington area will open on October 21. Click the links below to find early voting information for the county you reside in:
