We have had an amazing start to our APEX Fundraiser. The students had their first leadership lesson and fun class activities, and they are looking forward to more. There is a feature allowing you to report your child's absence online, to make it easier and more convenient for our Emerson families. Additionally, you can even upload Dr. notes, Dentist or Orthodontist notes, or anything else needed to clear your child's absence. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for the absence to show its been cleared. Please expect to receive a phone call even after the absence has been reported.

All students are required to wear a uniform at Emerson. Our uniform consists of red, white, or navy blue collared shirts or blouses, school spirit t-shirts, and navy blue or khaki shorts, skirts, and jumpers. Hats may be worn for sun protection outdoors. Hats should be Emerson hats or solid navy blue or red. Shoes must have closed toes and heels and should be suitable for physical education and play. No flip flops, sandals, or crocs. We love seeing you walk your pets to school with your student(s) but we have a few reminders.

• Pets are not allowed on campus in the walkways leading to gates and beyond
• Please do not allow students to pet your pet
• Please clean up after your pet.

Safety concern: Student should never be crossing the street outside of the crosswalk, through other cars, in the middle of the street. Please don't ask your students to run across, through cars, as this is extremely unsafe. Near the gate on Willow, more parents are driving the wrong way on the one way street off of Willow, please adhere to all parking and directional signs at all times. Cars that are being left unattended in the middle of the street can cause traffic to back up and possible accidents. Please do not park in the bus loading zone or in red zone, or turn your hazards on and leave your car double parked and unattended with/without other children inside. Safety is our utmost concern, and we thank you in advance for making sure we keep everyone safe and ticket free. Our school neighbors have kindly asked that we remind parents to NOT block their driveways when dropping off and picking up, OR, leave any children in their cars unattended while walking to drop off other siblings to the school campus.

TK/Kinder Families - Students being dropped off in the morning before the classroom opens must be accompanied by an adult. Older students on campus cannot be the ones responsible for walking the student to class, or taking them to breakfast. Our TK/Kinder yard is open with site supervision every day before school starting at 8:30am if an adult is not able to stay with them until the bell rings. These students must remain in the yard with our staff, so if they need to eat, an adult must stay to walk with and sit with them while they eat, and then bring them back to the yard after they are done.

We understand that there are times when it is raining, that it is more convenient to send your TK or Kinder student with the their older sibling, however, due to the young age of our TK/Kinder students, we require them to be with an adult at all times before/after school if they are not being supervised in our TK or Kinder yard by Emerson staff members.

Over the next 2 weeks, Apex will help our students discover and unlock their POWER to become world-changing leaders! The students will master 5 habits that will transform them into leaders and give them the POWER to change the world! We’ll highlight a different leadership habit each day so families can continue the conversation at home.

▶ Our first Apex leadership habit is POWER.

Each student possesses the POWER to make a difference! A difference in their life, their school, their community, and this world!! Each and every one of us is important and has value. No matter who we are, what we look like, or where we come from!

🗣 𝗔𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿: Ask your child to think about special abilities, skills, and unique POWERS that they have and how they can use those qualities to help their community in a positive way.

Here are our daily POWER lessons:

Last night's challenge winner was Coach Gonzalez's Class! They earned an Apex Party in their classroom!

Tonight's challenge is the SHARE WIZARD CHALLENGE! The class that has the most shares (per person) using the "Share Wizard" on the Apex website will win Fancy Friday with Apex! Good luck teams!

The 5th Grade class needs your help!

It is an Emerson tradition that 4th Grade families assist the 5th Grade families with Promotion Day activities so that 5th Grade parents can be with their students before and after the promotion ceremony. This also gives 4th Grade families a chance to see what promotion day is like. We need people to set up/tear down chairs, balloons, and decorations on both the lawn and the stage. We also need help with handing out programs and checking people in. The great news is that all of our PTA positions of Treasurer, Vice President, Membership, and Activities have been filled for the '24-'25 school year! However, Emerson still needs one very important role filled in order to continue raising funds and hosting fun family events: the VP of Fundraising. (see below for more info)
