Three Things to Know
FinalForms & Immunizations
If you haven’t done so already, please log into your FinalForms account to review information, make any necessary changes, and sign off for the new school year. This includes verifying that your child's immunizations are current and that all required documentation is provided.
For safety reasons, students who have not met these requirements by Monday, September 23, will not be permitted to attend school until their forms and immunization records are up to date. For detailed information on immunization requirements, please refer to the Events & Reminders section below.

More on Immunizations
- All students must have their immunizations up to date and turned in by September 23, 2024. Any student who does not have proof of the required immunizations by this date will be excluded from school until the necessary documentation is provided, and their immunizations are current. Proof of immunizations can be emailed to shassler@midviewk12.org, uploaded to FinalForms, or sent to school with your child. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school nurse at 440-748-5304 or shassler@midivewk12.org.
October 3 & 4 | Early Release Day & PD Day (No school)
The district will have our first early release of the school year on Thursday, Oct. 3, followed by a PD Day (No School) on Friday, Oct. 4. As a reminder, North students will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. on that Thursday.
A Note About Snacks
- Parents, we kindly ask for your support with snack guidelines. Some of our students are arriving with an excessive amount of snacks, which can cause confusion about what is for lunch versus snack time. To help manage this, please limit the number of "snacks" sent to school. Opting for a healthier snack is also preferred and appreciated. Thank you!
Friday Folders
- Some important information is coming home in folders today. Please take a moment to go through them this weekend.
Attendance Reminder
- When calling in your child's absence, it is incredibly important that you leave your full name, your child's full name, a good return phone number, and the reason for the child's absence. This helps us report information accurately. For absences or tardies, please call North Elementary School at 440-748-6869, Option #2 (preferably before 8:00 a.m.).

Mrs. Cruz's 1st Grade Class
How full is your bucket?
Mrs. Cruz’s first graders have been learning how to be bucket fillers in and out of the classroom! The first week of school, our class read the book, “How Full is your Bucket (for Kids)” and talked about bucket filling versus bucket dipping with a sorting activity. They discussed ways to be bucket fillers, such as being kind, including classmates at recess, sharing, and making good choices! After learning about being a bucket filler, they wrote about how they will be bucket fillers in first grade with a writing and craft activity! This beginning of the year lesson allows first graders to realize that every interaction, whether positive or negative, has the power to either fill or empty the buckets of others and ourselves.
Miss Heestand's Kindergarten Class
Miss Heestand's class has been working very hard and the school year has only just begun. Students have been working on reading, writing, and recognizing their names! To make learning even more fun they tore up paper for each color of the rainbow and used it to make each letter of their first name. The results were just beautiful! It was a great review of their letters, colors, and use of fine motor skills. The extra bonus was practice with their names! We included a few friend's pictures showing off their great artwork.
PBIS Corner
PBIS Kick Off Today!
Exciting News! The PBIS store opened today, and many students will be bringing home a special treat earned by being "Ready, Respectful, and Responsible"! Students earn tickets for these positive behaviors, which can be awarded by their bus driver or any staff within the building. The goal is to recognize and reward exemplary behavior.
If your child did not bring something home today, they might be saving their points for grand prizes like popcorn from the popcorn machine, cotton candy from the cotton candy machine, or even a special lunch from McDonald's with the principal (me)! I’m incredibly proud of their efforts over the past week and a half and look forward to seeing even more learning and smiling faces!

DOT Day
On Monday, September 16th, we will celebrate International Dot Day! This has become an annual event to celebrate the individual creativity inside ALL of our students based on the book, "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds. This story promotes a Growth Mindset and the courage to believe in ourselves. We will wear POLKA DOTS on that Monday and have a dot for every student to color for our hallway display. Every class will read the story or watch it using this link.
GOLD Day
Each year, Midview North collects pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Cleveland. We enjoy using this as a community service lesson with our students to instill a sense of compassion, empathy and teamwork, as we watch our tubs fill up with tabs all year. We will kick off our annual campaign with GOLD DAY, Thursday, September 26th, in honor of childhood cancer awareness month, as this supports some of the families staying at the House downtown for free due to our donation of pull tabs. We will make announcements to tell our students all about it and a letter will come home that week as well. Feel free to view their website at https://www.rmhcneo.org/ for more information.
Word of the Month: RESPONSIBILITY
Midview North has been spreading the word! Students can earn Student of the Month for September if they are being Responsible. You can teach them about it at home as well. Attached is a family newsletter to help you with ways to do so.
