Garden Club Co-Lead
Our Garden Club Lead is looking for a partner who is able to be on school campus regularly during the school day. This person will help students make plans for, plant, and take care of the beds outside of their classrooms.
The Yearbook Needs Your Photos!
Help makes the Madrona 2024-2025 yearbook a success, submit clear photos from events so far this year
Be sure to include through the tool who is in each photo
Enrichment Class Volunteers
We need adult volunteers to help with most of the classes.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to register your student for all their enrichment classes early!
Volunteer Paperwork
- All volunteers must be cleared by Safe Visitor Solutions before volunteering in any capacity at Madrona. Complete your paperwork now!
- Please allow up to two weeks for notification from the district about clearance
- All volunteers must have either an ID badge or sticker from the office visible while on campus

Picking Up Your Photo Badge
Did you have your photo taken for a volunteer badge?
- Badges can be picked up from Kelly in the front office
- You must be approved by Safe Visitors Solutions prior to picking up your badge from the office
- Badges will not be released to volunteers without staff seeing their Safe Visitors Approval
- Volunteers with Safe Visitors Approvals that expire in a month will not be given their badges and will have to show that approval every time they volunteer until it's renewed

What is a Sitzprobe?
Sitzprobe sounds like some sort of weird alien autopsy but it’s basically orchestra day where the kids get their first1/3/2025 chance to sing together with the live band.

🧠 Madrona Tips & Tidbits
🧥 Lost and Found Donations 12/17
Near the main office there are racks and stacks of lost and found items, if your student is missing something... a jacket, a water bottle, a head band, whatever... it may be in the lost and found.
If your student has lost something this year this is your last chance to find it before all items get donated before winter break!
All items will be donated on Tuesday, 12/17/2014

🦹 Spirit Week 12/16-12/20
This student powered, student organized event is fun and a great way to show school spirit!
Monday - Cozy Day
- Get comfy! Bring youyr favorite blanket. Wear your favorite cozy clothes like sweatpants, onesies, and pajamas
Tuesday - Fandom Day
- Celebrate the things you love most! Dress up as your favorite character from a book, movie, TV show, video game, comic book, or anything else that sparks your imagination
Wednesday - Mismatch or Inside-Out Day
- Mix and match patterns. Turn your close inside out and show off the tags! Wear your clothes backwards. Accessorize with mismatched items
Thursday - Zoom Day
- Ready for your close-up? Business on top, casual on the bottom! Top Half: Dress up your top half! Bottom Half: Get comfy! Wear your favorite sweatpants or even pajamas
Friday - Sports Fan Day
- Support the team! Jerseys, Team Colors, Sports Gear!
🍿 Primary Night - 12/19/2024, 6-7:30pm
Primary Night is an evening of fun for primary students, and a break for caregivers
This will be a fun evening, packed with things for kids to do!
- 12/19, 6-7:30PM
- $20 entry
- $5 pizza and a drink
- Madrona school gym
- Drop off event
- Giant inflatable maze
- Movie, art, pizza, and other activities
- Hosted by Student Activism and Leadership Team (SALT)
- Benefits a service project (TBD)

We have great news! Bear Wear sales are open now till 1/10/2025!
- Orders will be delivered to Madrona in a few weeks after the deadline and distributed to students.
- When ordering please list your child’s FULL NAME and teacher/center/homeroom.
- If ordering for multiple children, list the OLDEST child’s information.

🏀 Elks Hoop Shoot - 1/11 1-5pm
- January 11, 2025 1-5pm
- At Madrona K-8 School
- Free throw contest for children ages 8-13
- Age group is determined by the contestant's age as of April 1, 2025
- Funded by the Elks National Foundation
- Opportunity to put your name in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

Registration opens on January 13th at 8:00 AM
Classes will begin the last week of January
We’re excited to share a first look at our Winter 2025 Enrichment Class schedule!
Paper flyers will be sent home with students the week of January 6th
Volunteer Opportunity:
We need adult volunteers to help with most of the classes.
Volunteers have the opportunity to register your student for all their enrichment classes early!

👠 MCT Job Postings
This year's production is now officially in full swing!
Our community often includes a lot of skilled people and MCT is currently looking for the following positions:
- Stage Manager
- Lighting Designer
- Sound Designer/Sound engineer
Stage Manager
- Work collaboratively on the chosen production with the Director, Music Director, Vocal Director, Choreographer and a team of parent/student volunteers
- Coordinate and train the backstage volunteer tech crew
- “Call the show” from the tech booth for tech rehearsals and performances
Stipend:
$1000.00
Dates and Time Commitments
01/2025 to 04/2025
4 shows planned
10 weeks of rehearsals:
- 2-3 times a week for 2 hours/day
- Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 – 6pm, optional Fridays “as needed”
- Attend a weekend date 03/08/25 for Costume Fitting Day and 03/15/25 for Sitzprobe
- Attend Tech week that begins 2 weeks before the show. Rehearsals are from 4 – 9pm.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Attend all production meetings and rehearsals
- Keep a detailed record of blocking and direction of the musical. Create a comprehensive “run book” for the show, and obtain Director’s approval prior to start of performances
- Communicate concerns/problems regarding production/participants directly to the Producers
- Lead and work respectively and cooperatively with other independent contractors: Choreographer, Musical Director, Set Director, Set Designer, Producers, staff, students, parents and volunteers
- Other duties as mutually agreed upon by TAB (Theater Advisory Board) and Producers.
- Adhere to the Edmonds School District policies on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in theater and stage management
- Collaborative leader and team player with proven ability to build community
- A passion for working with kids
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Proven planning and organizational skills
- Open minded, flexible, and adaptable
- An approachable manner toward students and creative team/parent volunteers
- High energy
- Must be able to pass a required background check

💲 MIT Grant Program
Madrona Integrated Team (MIT) has allocated $15,000 in grant money to be awarded over the course of the school year. All MIT members (parents, caregivers, students, teachers, etc) may apply for a grant up to $2,500 to benefit students at Madrona.
There is $10,991.53 remaining for grants this school year
The winners for the first period were:
- Decodable Books Class Set & SEL Books
- “Windows and Mirrors” - allowing children to see others and be seen in the Madrona Community
- Madrona Children’s Theatre (MCT) Historical Display
“Grant proposal” is just a fancy way of saying “write up your idea”
The way you write it doesn’t need to be perfect - we will be looking at ideas, not spelling or grammar.
If you feel you need assistance writing up your grant application for any reason, please reach out to your friendly Grant Administrator.
We will be accepting submissions 3 times yearly. The second deadline is January 20,2025, and we plan to announce awards in early February.
Full information and application
We are also looking for Grant Readers to read and score grant submissions to help determine recipients. We are expecting the time commitment to be a few hours 3 times yearly - how much time will depend on the number of applications. Apply here to be a Grant Reader
👟 Madrona Miles Club!
Students in grades K-8 can participate in this running (or walking) club!
Meet at the Madrona K-8 Track
- Bring your running/walking shoes
- Wear clothes to participate in
- Bring your own water bottle
- Have a good attitude!
The goal of the Madrona Miles Club is to provide a free, fun, and inclusive program where students can exercise with friends, improve their fitness, and learn about the importance of healthy living.
The club aims to foster a positive attitude toward physical activity, encourage regular exercise, and promote lifelong healthy habits in a supportive and social environment.
Students need to be registered for Madrona Miles Club this year so our school nurse can cross check for any health concerns. Register now
Madrona Miles Club is a DROP IN program, once you are registered, come when you can.
Care givers and family members are welcome (and encouraged!) to stay and walk/jog with their kids, but you can also drop them off and go.

📚 The Yearbook Lowdown
- $30 per yearbook (+ any addons)
- This is the one and only time to order yearbooks for the 2024-2025 school year
- At the end of the school year there is a giant all school yearbook signing party.
- Students pick up their yearbooks and join the party!
- Pens are usually available for ~$1 in case kids don't have one handy
The Yearbook Needs Your Photos!
Do you have clear pictures from Bear Scare? What about the jazz concert last week? We'll take them all!
- Please use the QR code this link or the button below to upload your photos for yearbook consideration.
- You'll have to verify your email each time you visit the site, but you can upload multiple photos at a time.
- Please add information through the tool about who is in each picture.
We greatly appreciate all of your contributions to make the 24-25 yearbook spectacular!
💵 MIT Scholarship Program
MIT understands that the costs associated with school may be a hardship for some families. The MIT community has determined that it is important to support our community during this time.
MIT has updated our scholarship program, so it is no longer dependent on qualifying for Free & Reduced Lunch
The fees covered by the Scholarship Program include:
Supply fees (also available under Free and Reduced Lunch benefits)
One ticket to Bear Scare
One Enrichment class per year
Field trip fees (also available under Free and Reduced Lunch benefits)
One yearbook & one pen
Anyone who thinks the cost of these items may be a hardship for their family should apply.
