Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,

It's finally here...the first day of school is tomorrow and the first day of #buildingGReatness begins! Doors open at 7:30am to students and they will report directly to the gyms to pick up a GREEN hard copy of their schedule. This is their ONLY ticket to get in their first period class, so ALL STUDENTS MUST REPORT TO THE DESIGNATED GYM BELOW from 7:30-8:10.

• Last names beginning with "A-L" will report to the BIG gym
• Last names beginning with "M-Z" will report to the SMALL gym

GRHS Counselors will have their "out of office" response turned on this week as they are leveling (reducing class sizes) and adjusting schedules of the students that have "missing classes" due to the auto populating of Skyward.

If your student STILL has a concern about their schedule you MUST FILL OUT THE LINK BELOW that was sent out last week and they will get to it as soon as possible during this first week. We appreciate your patience, as this will take the entire first week to get it all addressed. I promise that they are actively working on it.

If your beginning of year forms are complete, you are able to view the schedule in Skyward, but you will STILL NEED TO REPORT TO THE GYMS BETWEEN 7:30-8:10 to pick up your GREEN hard copy, this is your TICKET into first period. *Any student that does not have the designated green printed schedule will have to go back to the gym to get it before they can go to first period. If you are missing a first period, please report to the auditorium so that we can get that corrected.

This year, I have created a welcome back and expectation video that each teacher will be showing our Longhorns on Monday and Tuesday during their 4th period advisory classes, instead of the whole grade level gatherings we traditionally have in the auditorium. I will be sending these out via e-blast once I have shown them to our Longhorns for parents to be in the know, too!

We appreciate your patience and kindness as we are working hard to get 2600+ Longhorns settled back into a routine this first week. This is no easy task, but I promise you that I have the GR-eatest team that is ready and willing to help! I am asking that you show respect and a grace this first week as there will be class leveling happening, schedule glitches that will be getting fixed, all while reacclimating into a school building for many kids that have not been in one (or GRHS) since March of 2020. We are spending the first two days just getting to know our longhorns to build those strong relationships, reviewing protocols/routines/ expectations, and finding their way around this building so they can quickly adjust to the Ranch life!

*Late arrival seniors you can begin picking up your green hard copy schedule at 8:45am from the student service window and then go wait in cafeteria for the 2nd period bell to ring.

Masks Optional:

As you have heard, masks are OPTIONAL, so we encourage your student to do what is BEST FOR THEM AND YOUR FAMILY! Everyone has a story and we are not here to judge, but to embrace each and everyone of them with open arms as we welcome them to the Ranch for a GR-eat new year! I do understand that we all feel very strongly about this decision, on both sides, but what I do ask is when you enter this building that you choose to be KIND and RESPECTFUL of those individual choices, and not cause divisiveness amongst this campus by making people feel uncomfortable about their personal and family's choice.

We will continue to clean, use the e-mist system (purchased by the district) and provide hand sanitizer stations in the classrooms and throughout the building for everyone to use. The teacher's are ready to teach and I know that for the mental health of many of us and our students coming back to school provides a sense of normalcy in what has been a very turbulent and uncertain year and a half. I appreciate your support, as we will continue to do whatever it takes to create a safe, inclusive, academically challenging, and kind learning environment for our GRHS Longhorns!

• School Hours: 8:15am to 3:40pm. (bell schedule attached below)
• For those who require early arrival, the building opens at 7:30am.
• You may enter through the main front door or back doors by gyms and proceed to the designated gym to pick up GREEN schedule (your ticket to first period)
• Students will be held in cafeteria and gyms until 8:00am each day, unless they have a designated pass for tutorials. (Tutorials start after 2nd full week- Tutorial Schedule will be on Teacher's Canvas pages)
• Late Start Seniors - You can pick up your GREEN schedule from the student service window starting at 8:45am, then wait in cafeteria until the second period bell rings.

• DRESS CODE....IT'S A REAL THING! See the visual below. Armpits to mid thigh (3inches down your thigh MUST BE COVERED COMPLETELY. (see visual) If you raise your hand I should NOT see mid drift skin...this means your shirt is too short. Also, shirts should not be so oversized it is covering your shorts, it means your shorts are to short. If you violate this, you will be sent to AP to change. If you refuse it will be come a disciplinary consequence, which can effect your semester exemptions. FOR NOW, caps, slides, leggings, and appropriate length shorts are IN DRESS CODE). Please don't abuse this, or we will adjust accordingly!
• LANYARDS W/GRHS ISSUED ID...IT'S A REAL THING TOO! 1st ID/Lanyard will be given to you on Wednesday during lunches, after that replacements are $5. Starting Wednesday after all lunches these must be VISIBLEY WORN on the TOP half of your body. If you refuse it will be come a disciplinary consequence.
• PARKING PASSES ARE MANDATORY IF YOU ARE DRIVING TO GRHS. Please make sure you have purchased yours and you are parked in your ASSIGNED spot. DAY ONE you must either have the temporary pass printed and placed in windshield or the permanent Longhorn pass hanging from your mirror. If you are still needing to pick up your permanent pass you can stop by the student service window during all lunches on Monday. IF SOMEONE IS PARKED IN YOUR SPOT THE FIRST DAY....DON'T WORRY...WE WILL BE SHOWING A BIT OF GRACE UNTIL ALL PASSES ARE HANDED OUT THE FIRST DAY DURING LUNCHES! • Lunch Deliveries: GRHS does NOT accept 3rd party lunch delivers for students. No DoorDash, UberEats. GrubHub or any other type of pizza or food delivery. Only family members can deliver lunch to their student. Lunches are left at the front office on the designated table with the student's name, grade, and ID number. Students are responsible for picking it up on their way to lunch. They will not be delivered and they may not leave class early to get it, as this disrupts instruction. Thanks for your understanding.

• A. Student is a senior not scheduled in a course needed for graduation
• B. Student has already earned credit for a course in which he/she is currently scheduled

• D. Student has previously failed a course with the same teacher

FYI:

• Teacher change requests and lunch period requests will not be honored.

• Course level changes- you may request to level up this week (ex: academic to PAP or PAP to AP), if there is space in the course.
• Leveling down changes will not be an option until the end of the first six weeks. (ex: PAP to academic level)

Instructions for Completing Online Forms:

Completing the Beginning of Year online forms through Skyward Family Access is very easy and will take just a few minutes. Below are your steps for completing these forms:

1. Click on the Family Access login button to the right.
2. Login with your LCISD Family Access credentials.
3. Click on the Beginning of Year Forms link in the Family Access main menu.
4. Complete each step, making changes as necessary, and clicking the “Complete Step X” button at the bottom of each form.
5. Once all forms are complete, click the “Submit Beginning of Year Forms” button on the last page.

For those who need access to a computer or the Internet, computers will be available on campus Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily starting August 2nd.

Students will need to use their Office 365 LCISD Student Email account to access this! They all have one and should be checking this regularly anyway. Get them in the habit now, it's part of HS responsibility.

1. Copy of Drivers License UPLOADED (NO PERMITS allowed)
2. CURRENT Insurance Card UPLOADED (with GRHS student LISTED AS DRIVER)
3. Vehicle Make, Model, Year, Color, and License Plate Number
4. 1st color zone selection, 2nd color zone selection, and 3rd color zone selection (must choose 3 different ones)
5. Parking Pass Payment Receipt UPLOADED
6. Rules and Regulations Acknowledgment read and signed
