Prayer
An Easter Prayer
Good and gracious God,
Our most glorious Creator,
As we greet the signs in nature around us:
Of Spring once again regaling us in bloom,
In the songs of returning birds and fields soon to be planted,
We give you praise for an even greater sign of new life: the resurrection of your Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ, that we especially celebrate at this time.
The sadness and despair of his death has given way to the bright promise of immortality.
For the Resurrection is our guarantee that justice will triumph over treason, Light will overcome darkness, and love will conquer death.
As we celebrate, we also dare to ask for your grace that we may live the promise given to us,
By imitating the life of Jesus in reaching out to the poor, the marginalized, the least among us,
As we strive to be neighbor to all those we meet,
We ask your special blessings each and every day on our President.
Working with him may we strive to make this great country of ours a beacon of hope and justice in a world hungry for peace and so in need of your love.
We praise you in this Easter season. Change our lives, change our hearts to be messengers of Easter joy and hope.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord forever.
Amen
A Note from Mrs. Longden
During this Holy Week, I hope everyone is able to take some time out of our busy schedules to focus on the events commemorated this week. This is the high point of the Christian year. The passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus demonstrate for us the incomprehensible love that God has for each of us. These events provide the model for how we, as Christians, should interact with the world - with love and self-giving. So I encourage everyone to participate as fully as your family can in the church services and liturgical events so that we can all deepen our relationship with Jesus this Holy Week.
HAPPY EASTER! Have a safe and blessed Easter!
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden
THEME
Take a moment and imagine yourself in the crowd following Jesus to His Crucifixion....“You walk with Mary, His Mother, a deep peace emanates from her, even as the soldiers drive her Son, the Lamb, toward Calvary. She accepts the whipping of His back as stripes upon her heart with a humble spirit. And you can see in her suffering face that it is not a passive submission, but one that rises to embrace each moment with her whole spirit. Throughout her life, she silently watched His ministry, sometimes with Him, sometimes from afar, always accepting all in her humble, grateful heart, proclaiming the greatness of the Lord. For even now in this moment of suffering, as her heart is pierced through, her face proclaims His glory.
He came to restore the inheritance to all people, to make us all children of God. The hill of crucifixion rises in the distance where criminals are awaiting their execution—and He, who is incapable of deceit, is dying for them as well. His Sorrowful Mother is beside you, and you reach out and take her hand. Her silence comes into your heart through her help, amid this injustice, your heart is finding peace.”
Child of God, this Way of the Cross, all our experience of suffering and persecution, is a part of the life of the Christian. We are meant to look to our sweet Lamb and His Blessed Mother as models, offering it all silently to the Father and trusting in the help of the Holy Spirit. This week ask Him to teach you to be meek like Him, so that when chaos and the hatred of the world press in about you, you are able to bring it all to Him in the silence of your heart.
Great to be Grateful
Lent
Theme
This year, our Lenten theme is “Cross My Heart,” which will be observed by our elementary students. The theme for middle school students is “One Day at a Time.” Each school day during Lent, we will read scripture and pray together.
Stations of the Cross
Parents are invited to join us for Stations of the Cross, which will be prayed every Friday during Lent at 2:00 p.m.
Jesus looked so weak on that hill that day
He had no sword and no spear, not even one soldier on His side.
All of the cards were stacked against Him
The only thing He could do was pray, depend on God, forgive His enemies and then die. Has the world ever witnessed a more pitiful display of weakness than that?
How much more impressive it would have been if He had grabbed a sword from one of the soldiers and defended Himself.
But that did not happen, He simply died.
And when the struggle was over, it certainly seemed that violence was the victor.
But two thousand years later we are gathered here not in honor of the military might of the Roman Empire, but in honor of a Man who died on a cross.
His apparent defeat at Calvary has turned out to be a strange kind of failure.
It has given Him a place in history like nothing else that has ever happened.
Without striking a blow
No violence, no hate, only love.
He has conquered more hearts and changed more minds then Caesar’s soldiers ever dreamed. Jesus showed us that the cross really is a symbol of victory.
Love is stronger than hate, faith really is more valid than cynicism, non-violence really is more powerful than brute force.
The question for us this Lent is, do we dare to believe it? Do we dare to try it?

Human Growth and Development Resources
This will be held at St. Frances Cabrini.
Here is the information they sent us:
Dear Families,
We have made some adjustments, this year, to the Human Growth and Development Resources that we offer you as parents. You as parents are the primary educators of your children, and as a school, we support you in many different ways. One of those ways has been to offer some basic resources to help families prepare their children for puberty.
This year, we have expanded this opportunity with parents of daughters. In combination with the Archdiocese, we are offering a class called "Cycle Prep by Pearl and Thistle". This class is intended to be taken by a parent and child together, and can be done at the time that feels most appropriate for your family. We’ll be offering the class every year, and you as parents can decide whether your daughter is ready for it in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade.
This class presents the biological and medical side of puberty, but also uses a lens of faith to help our girls understand the changes they’re experiencing, and what they mean. We are excited to be one of the first to offer this and will be opening this up to surrounding schools as well.
To learn more about the class and to register, please see the attachment.
Thank you!
