TECHNOLOGY WITH MR. MOORE
The 1st quarter has flown by so fast, and I’m thankful to be your child’s technology teacher. This past quarter students learned about Digital Citizenship and Online Safety. Below are some internet safety tips to help stay safe online.
Internet Safety Tips for Kids and Teens
Never post your personal information, such as a cell phone number, home number, home address, or your location on any social networking site or through mobile apps like Snapchat or Instagram.
Never meet in person with anyone you first “met” on the internet. If someone asks to meet you, tell your parents or guardian right away. Some people may not be who they say they are.
Check with your parents before you post pictures of yourself or others online. Do not post inappropriate pictures of anyone.
Never respond to mean or rude texts, messages, and e-mails. Delete any unwanted messages. You may need to delete friends who continuously bother you or post things that are not appropriate.
NEVER share your password with anyone, including your best friend. The only people who should know your password are your parents or guardians.
If you wouldn’t say something to another person’s face, don’t text it or post it online.
Do not download or install software or anything on your computer or cell phone before checking with your parents or guardians.
Use the privacy settings of social networking sites.
If anything makes you feel uncomfortable online, while gaming or when using your cell phone, talk with your parents or guardians right away.

Storybook Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Thank you to all the students who participated in Hickam's Annual Storybook Pumpkin Decorating Contest!! This year we have a record high of 84 pumpkins being turned in!!! The competition was tough this year and teachers and staff definitely had a hard time voting for the top pumpkins!
The pumpkins will be displayed in the MMLC through the month of November, so come check out our amazing pumpkin patch when you come for the Scholastic Book Fair! Pumpkins will go home starting in December.
You are invited to Hickam Elementary School’s Scholastic Book Fair from Oct 28-Nov 4, 2024!!
All purchases benefit our school and will connect kids with new books, favorite characters, complete series, and more!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the Multi-Media Literacy Center (2nd floor of the office) from 12:30pm-3:00pm daily and 2:00pm-3:30pm on Monday, November 4th. Please enter from the side stairwell, NOT through the office.
A Book Fair eWallet is a cash-free, stress-free way for parents to empower your child(ren) to choose their own books and check out with their very own digital payment account. Book Fair eWallet can be used at the Fair or online. Once you set up your child’s eWallet, you can share the link with family and friends who may want to donate to your child’s eWallet. Please note that any leftover funds can be saved for future Fairs!

After School Club Spotlight: Anchored4Life
Along with giving aloha tours, a hui hou kits, and deployment support, the Anchored4Life club participates in a service project for our school community. Last year, the students decided to start a Falcon Closet for new students! As most of you know it takes a few weeks for new uniform shirts to arrive once ordered, so our club has decided to start a store to help ease this burden. This is an on-going project and A4L is still collecting clean uniform tops in the ATC. Thank you for helping our students serve their community by helping make transitions a little easier!
As seen above, this year's A4L Service Project is a canned food drive to support the Hawaii Food Bank. Team Leaders are excited to serve and benefit the local community during this Thanksgiving season!
Great job, Anchored4Life!
