May 2025 Newsletter
Dear LMS Families,
Its hard to believe but we are into the last full month of the 2024/2025 school year. Reflecting on the past nine months, there have been so many highlights. It has been a great year here at Linden Middle School. Please remind your student that we still have unfinished business. With the warm weather and busy night activities, it is easy to become passive with school responsibilities. We need to stay focused and finish strong. This is a very busy time of year, please remind your students to stay focused for 5 more weeks.
To all of the eight graders. I am excited to celebrate your accomplishments at the 8th grade Recognition on June 6th. I will send a separate communication to all 8th grade parents and guardians with details of the event in the near future. I understand many of you are feeling anxious about the big move to Linden High School next fall. Moving to a new building, with so many unknowns, is an unnerving and anxious feeling for both parents and students. Like everything, those feelings will pass with time. I have all the confidence that LMS has prepared all of our students to successfully transition to their next destination. Go enjoy the journey and make memories. You got this!

SOAR Leadership Applications
Attention 7th Grade Parents:
We are currently accepting applications for our SOAR Leader program. SOAR Leaders are 8th grade role models who team with our 6th graders to help welcome and transition them to the middle school. SOAR Leaders engage in fun, community-building activities with their 6th grade buddies throughout the school year.
We are looking for SOAR Leaders with the following qualities and characteristics:
- Friendly towards others
- Make an effort to include everyone
- Have good school attendance
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- Work hard and try their best in school
- Earn 3s and 4s for their SOAR citizenship scores
- No discipline referrals this year
Please Note: SOAR Leaders MUST be able to attend training on Tuesday, August 5th and 6th grade orientation on Thursday, August 7th. Any leader who misses required dates will not be eligible to continue as a SOAR Leader.
Applications are located on the LMS website under School Counseling and are due Friday, May 2nd.
(Application information has been communicated for a few weeks, but if you are interested please see Mrs. Gambrel or Mrs. Roehrig on Monday, May 5th)
You can view these slides for more information
There are a limited number of SOAR Leader spots available. Filling out this application does not guarantee you a spot. Leaders will be selected in mid-May.
Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Gambrel at jgambrel@lindenschools.org
Counselors' Corner
The summer months are a time for relaxation and fun. Summer also means less structure, routine, and built-in supports for students. We have provided a list of counseling resources for families seeking counseling support over the summer months and beyond.

Washington DC Fall of 2025
Please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. McBride with details about the upcoming trip. The email will include information about the Alpine Receipt Fundraiser, upcoming parent meeting, and travel information.
Adult Chaperones please make note of the following information:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has officially set a firm deadline: Starting May 7, 2025, a standard driver’s license will no longer be enough for domestic air travel. If you don’t have a REAL ID or another TSA-approved form of identification, you won’t be able to board your flight.
Assistant Principals' Corner
LMS Families,
This has been one of the best years I have been a part of in education and it has everything to do with how the students have conducted themselves daily. The expectations are clearly laid out for our students at the beginning of the year with quarterly reminders and they have done a fantastic job meeting them. It seems in today's society the majority of things that get recognized are the negative interactions between individuals, but the positives need to be focused on when it comes to LMS. Behaviorally, this has been the best year at LMS in the past 5 years. To date we are at least 100 referrals less than each of the past 5 years and upward to 250+ referrals less than one year. That is unbelievable! If you have visited our school at all this year, yet it may be controlled chaos at some points, you can feel the energy and environment that has been created here. It has everything to do with the kids and their decision making.
With that said, we still have a month to go. The expectations will not only stay the same, they will rise as students continue to mature. Please continue to do your part in helping our school be an amazing place to be for our students. That includes talking with your child about daily decisions, checking what they are wearing to school, and making sure they are being good to one another.
I look forward to finishing the year strong! Go Eagles!
