John Wayland Welcomes Our Volunteers
Anyone can be a volunteer…parents, grandparents, business partners, high school and college students, community members … and of course YOU! Active involvement by volunteers greatly helps individual students and our partnerships with community and family volunteers are important to us.
Examples of Tasks Volunteers Assist With:
*Assisting in chaperoning field trips
*Laminating materials at school
* Assisting children with special projects (sewing, baking, arts, crafts…)
* Supporting K-2 Student skill building (Reading with/to students, Practicing Math, etc.)
* Assisting with production of games and instructional materials
* Assisting in the library
* Assisting in our Computer Lab
* Assisting Students at Lunch
* Other - please share any strengths or special skills you may have from which our students
and school could benefit!
Curriculum & Instruction
At John Wayland Elementary, we strive to elevate teaching and learning for all. The Virginia Standards of Learning guide our curriculum and teaching, but we believe that engaging in relevant teaching and learning promotes student success. A VDOE document is shared below for families who are curious as to what skills and topics will be addressed at each grade level.
