A Message From Mr. Swanson
The State Test for education, AK STAR is just about here. Next week, beginning on Tuesday, 2 Apr 24, our 3rd grade students will get State testing started by taking the Language Arts portion of the test online. All of our 3rd-6th grade students will be participating in the tests that cover Language Arts and Math over the next two weeks and any students who miss tests will be able to make them up over the following three weeks that end 19 Apr 24. This is a revised form of testing both in content and form. The content has been aligned to the new Alaska State Standards and students will be taking the test entirely online. We also know that when there is a revision to the test most students have lower scores initially than compared to a previous test they are more used to. This is a normal pattern in these kind of test changes. You will be receiving your student's results in the mail sometime in September of this year.
As before, the test results are closely analyzed and it is important that students do their very best on these tests. It is also important your child is fed and well rested over these next two weeks.
