FCCLA Thanks Our School Community For Supporting The Food Festival!
The Culinary & Baking Departments would like to thank everyone for their support of the FCCLA Food Festival. Without the help and support from the different departments, parents, and students this event would not be possible.
Special thanks to:
- Mr. Dave White and the construction students for assembling the trucks.
- Ron Wenzel and Sara Kijewski for coming out to volunteer and help us during the event.
- Zach Bates for doing the music and sound.
- Mr. Roskiewich for facilitating as the Masters of Ceremony during the event.
- Darren Leary, his student intern, and Rachelle Petrille for photography.
- Katie Arnold for always doing an amazing job with baskets.
- Elena Sima, Tom Hill, and all the Culinary and Baking students for always helping at all the FCCLA events.
- The maintenance department for doing an amazing job setting-up tables, helping us move countless number of tables and chairs, cleaning up, and reorganizing the cafeteria after the event.
- All staff, administrators, parents, families, and friends for purchasing tickets, attending the event, buying basket tickets, and allowing students to help.
Please know that your support is very much appreciated and we look forward to your continued support in future FCCLA events! Thank you!

The event featured local restaurants giving out samples from their menu, as well as student and teacher “food trucks” giving out their own culinary/baking creations, a cake and cupcake decorating competition, and 80 raffle baskets!
The event was a huge success, with over 300 guests in attendance, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of many people within the school community! Thank you!
Program Showcase
GCIT Admissions held its first ever Program Showcase, today, Wednesday, November 6th. The Program Showcase has taken the place of GCIT’s Information Sessions and Student Visits (formerly shadow visits), as a new way for interested students and their parent/guardian to visit GCIT, meet students, faculty and staff, and tour our state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, kitchens, and workshops!
GCIT students worked firsthand with visiting students to show them what an average day in their academy consists of. Activities ranged from styling hair in Cosmetology, 3-D printing in Engineering, welding metals, and so much more!
If your 8th grader is interested in learning more about the incredible opportunities and experiences available at GCIT, please click the link below to sign up for our next Program Showcase!

This week, students in Mrs. McCarthy 1-2 period Health Careers Exploration class, went to NovaCare in Woodbury for a field trip. “Dia de los Muertos”!
This past Friday, Spanish classes presented lessons on the Day of the Dead – “Dia de los Muertos”!
I would like to share that Deneen Clark – from the Bakery and Pastry Shop prepared over 100 Traditional Bread called “Pan de Muerto” for Mrs. Eppolite's and Ms. Perez's classes. The sample size bread were a hit with our students!
We shared via email a traditional recipe with Mrs. Clark and she gracefully agreed to prepared them with three days notice.
This is a very traditional bread to have as part of the traditional “Altar” prepared to honor departed loved ones.
Again, this is another demonstration of the wonderful & supportive GCIT staff.
Below are some pictures of our kids enjoying the “Pan de Muerto”.
