A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
It looks like another lovely weather weekend.
Student and staff safety is our primary concern at Fremont School District 79. We will be practicing our ALICE intruder drill the week of October 16 at the Elementary, Intermediate and Middle School. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. To learn more about the district's safety and security measures, please click here. If you would like to have your child opt out of this drill, please contact Ms. Carmody at bcarmody@fsd79.org. You can also click here to access a resource titled Age-Appropriate Guidelines for ALICE Training at Any Age.
In gratitude,

Hearing and Vision Screenings
Beginning October 21, 2024 students will undergo hearing and/or vision screenings by an IDPH Certified Vision/Hearing Screening Technician. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.
In general, all students in KINDERGARTEN, FIRST AND SECOND grade will be screened for hearing. All SECOND grade students and all students that are new to our district and/or receive special education services will be screened for hearing and vision.
If a child does not pass the first screening, they will be re-screened two weeks later. If they do not pass the second screening, a letter will be sent to the parents/guardians notifying them that their child will need to see an eye doctor or audiologist for further evaluation.
The parent or legal guardian of a student may object to hearing and/or vision screening tests for their child on religious grounds. If you object, please contact our school nurse, Dana Bestler, at 847-837-0437 x2002.
Parent University Presentation
In case you were unable to attend Tuesday night’s outstanding Parent University presentation from Audrey Grunst from Simply Bee Counseling, or if you’d like to watch it again, please check out the video below. The video will only be available through October 9.
We highly recommend our families take advantage of our Parent U. programming and resources as we strive to build strong parent and school partnerships. For more information on future and previous Parent U. opportunities, please visit our webpage.
