February Updates
Please find important updates for February below:
PRESIDENT'S BREAK (02/17/25-02/21/25)
School and ESS will both be closed Monday, February 17th and Friday, February 21st. We will be open Tuesday, February 18th through Thursday, February 20th, 8AM-5PM. ESS is only open to families that pre-registered for the program. If you are currently on the waitlist for President's Break, we will not be able to accommodate your student(s) for break as we are at capacity and the drop deadline has passed. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your patience as demand for our program has increased.
2024 TAX INFORMATION
Procare has everything you need to access your payment history for the previous tax year! Please reference the "How To" guide linked below to access the report through Procare. Neither the ESS Leadership Team, or the ESS Finance Team will be sending these out.

SPRING BREAK REGISTRATION (MARCH 4TH)
Registration for Spring Break will be open on Procare March 4th - March 10th.
Spring Break is April 14th - April 18th. ESS will be open to families that register Monday, April 14th through Thursday April 17th, and will be closed to ALL students on Friday, April 18th.
ESS hours will be 8AM-5PM Monday-Thursday.
Reminder emails will go out prior to registration opening, morning registration opens, and on the last day of registration. Please sign up as soon as it opens as we will have limited, first come, first serve spaces available.
SUMMER SESSIONS
In case you missed it, the tentative Summer Schedule is linked below. Please keep in mind that the calendar is subject to change. If any changes are made, I will update you all immediately. Remember, ESS no longer allows the opportunity to take vacation credit days, so it is best to try to plan vacations during ESS closure dates.
OUTGOING 5TH GRADE FAMILIES - SUMMER ASES
In case you missed it, the Oak Valley ASES Program Flyer is out. As stated, I will update the outgoing 5th grade families with the link as soon as it is available.
IPADS
Please do not let your students sign out on the iPads. They are for parents only, and the signature records are kept for legal purposes.
SMART DEVICES
Phones and smart watch devices should not be used by students when they are in school and at ESS per PUSD Board Policy. If your student(s) need to communicate with you, they need to come to the office and use their tech, or ours in our presence. Students using these tech items in their rooms or on the playground will have them confiscated for parent pick up at the end of the day. This relies on parent support not calling or texting your child as well. If you need to contact your child, you can call ESS and they can use their Smart Device in the building with adult supervision.
Policies & Procedures: Reminders
The following information is important information for new families, and great reminders for returning families.
- ESS hours are 6:30am-6:00pm daily. Late pick ups will result in automatic late fees added to your monthly statement. Multiple late pickups will result in a suspension or termination from the program.
- If your student will be absent from ESS, please email or text us ahead of time. We assume that every child who attended school will attend ESS after school if they are enrolled. If we are not made aware of an absence we will be calling and/or texting parents to confirm absences.
- Each family will be provided with a gate code to enter the double gates by the Kindergarten playground. This code is to be used by PARENTS only. Students should not be putting the family code into the gate.
- This code should only be shared with adults that are authorized to pick up your child. Please remember that if something were to happen on campus, and your code was used, you are responsible for who used your code to get on campus.
- The sign in and out iPads are for PARENT use only. Students should not be signing in or out.
- Phones and smart watch devices should not be used by students when they are in school and at ESS per PUSD Board Policy. If your student(s) need to communicate with you, they need to come to the office and use their tech, or ours in our presence. Students using these tech items in their rooms or on the playground will have them confiscated for parent pick up at the end of the day.
Policies & Procedures: Updates
- ESS (district-wide) has removed the option for vacation credits moving forward. If you are going to be absent for an extensive period of time, please let us know. Please know you will not be reimbursed or credited for the days missed.
- ESS (district-wide) has changed hours on non-student days where ESS is open. This includes Parent Teacher Conference Days, President's Break, Spring Break, and Pro-Grow Days that ESS is open. ESS is changing hours from 7:30am-5:30pm to 8:00am-5:00pm.
- ESS (district-wide) has removed the 6th grade option for Summer 2025. ASES, the middle school before/after school program, offers a summer program and all incoming 6th graders will be referred to this FREE program.
- As many of you know, our ESS program is highly impacted with a lengthy waitlist! Please know that if you drop from our program, you will not be guaranteed re-enrollment. The waitlist and enrollment process is brand new this year. It is a centralized lottery system that is managed and held by the District Office.
