A Message from Ms. Vargas
Dear Peirce Families,
As we celebrate all students have accomplished this year, we are also busy planning for the school year ahead. I am pleased to announce our classroom teachers for 2024-25:
Kindergarten (3 classrooms): Megan Leone, Claire Vacca (K aide becoming a teacher), Elizabeth Cox (new hire)
1st Grade: Erin Tracey & Breanne Norvell
2nd Grade: Nikki Capodilupo & Gennie Salzsieder
3rd Grade: Amanda Anderson & Emily Donahue
4th Grade: Katie Busk & Laura DiSipio
5th Grade: Katie Beaulieu & Anne Carey
It is with bittersweet feelings that I share that Kelly Champagne, current fifth grade teacher, has accepted a position teaching math at Newton South next year. Kelly, who has served at Peirce for 16 years, is truly an exceptional teacher and leader. We support her in following this dream and are thrilled she will remain a district colleague.
Additionally, Wesley Burhoe, a behavior technician, has found a role as a teacher of business at Stoughton High School. We thank Wesley for his work at Peirce and wish him the best in this new adventure.
Many in our community are eager to know about our new PE teacher. Of course, it is challenging to fill Mr. Nye’s shoes, but we are in the process of onboarding a very promising candidate. I will share more details about this new teacher by the fall.
Best Regards,
Andrea Vargas
Color Day 2024
Thank you to Mr. Nye and to all our volunteers!

At our May Town Meeting, the entire school enjoyed watching animation videos made by our creative fifth graders in Ms. Smith's art class. Click here to see for yourself!
Order School Supplies by Friday, June 21st for Fall 2024!
The annual Peirce back-to-school supply drive allows you to order a kit containing the exact school supplies that Peirce teachers would like every child to have ready for school in September. Save time, avoid hassle (no searching around crowded stores at the end of the summer!) and support Peirce too - a portion of the sales supports our PTO! The kits will be delivered directly to Peirce before school starts and will be waiting for your child(ren) in the classroom.
Order online at www.shopttkits.com using our School Account Number 32994 by Friday, June 21st.

but only one could be selected.

Parent Town Hall on the use of Smartphones
Are you grappling with whether to purchase a smartphone for your child? Are you finding yourself in battles with your child over screen time? Please join us as a community to discuss how we can work together to support each other as we help our children to be safe and kind in the digital age.
On June 18 the PTO Council for Newton Public Schools will be sponsoring a Parent Town Meeting event in the Brown MS auditorium titled, Smart Phone Questions? You're Not Alone!
Plan to attend this forum to hear about alternatives to smartphones as well as tips and tricks as parents. You will also hear from educators about how these devices impact daily life at school. None of us have all the answers, but together we can help and support each other as we navigate the challenges. This evening will be of particular help to families who are currently considering if they should purchase a smartphone for their children, but all are encouraged to attend!

PTO Volunteering Opportunities
t’s hard to believe, but the end of the school year is quickly approaching and planning for next year is already underway. Planning ahead helps ensure that our key annual traditions, especially fall events such as the Back-to-School Picnic, Book Fair and Mystery Dinner, get off the ground smoothly. Everything the PTO does is powered by volunteers and any amount of time given contributes to the success of our events as well as community building!
Now is the time to let us know if you'd like to volunteer to support PTO events and/or join committees for next year. Here's how to volunteer:
Look through the Peirce PTO Parent Handbook - which includes a wide range of volunteer opportunities and describes each role and its estimated time commitment.
Fill out this brief Expression of Interest Form by Friday, June 14 to raise your hand for the volunteer opportunities that suit you best. It’ll take 5 minutes at most.
Please feel free to check off as many options as you’re interested in. Don’t worry… indicating interest isn’t a commitment and it doesn’t mean that you’d be signed up for everything that you select. We’ll look at all of the responses and match people with the available opportunities.
If you have ANY questions at all, reach out to us by email at PeircePresidents@gmail.com.
Your involvement is critical to the PTO’s success. Thanks in advance for your support!
