Fall Semester Winding Down

Greetings TLC Families.

Believe it or not, the Fall semester is winding down. We have around six weeks left to go until the end of the semester and this includes the shortened Thanksgiving week. Please make sure you have access to Canvas, EOS, and Infinite Campus, so you can support your student behaviorally and academically. If you need assistance or have questions, please access our school website or call the school @ 422-1446.

We will be calling and emailing any guardians whose student is under contract review, due to failing grades (more than 3), absences (12 or more), and discipline referrals (3 or more). Please review the TLC Contract for more details. With the help of each student's Advisor, we will create and monitor a plan with specific goals designed to improve student achievement and continue enrollment @ TLC.

Freshman (9th grade) parents, you have been sent an email asking you to fill out a permission slip to the annual FCPS Career Expo at the Central Bank Center on November 20th from 9:30-11:30. This is a great event for students to explore their career interests and transportation is provided. Please make sure you check your email for permission slips. The district will will be sending out permission slips via email on October 23rd, 29th, and 30th.

All guardians, please mark your calendar for November 21st. We will have academic parent conferences in person at TLC from 5:00-6:00 and on Zoom from 6:00-7:00. Senior parents, we will have important information and guidance with regards to the FAFSA as well. We will release more details as we get closer to the date.

October Student of the Month

Jax Birch is the October Student of the Month at TLC. This is Jax's second year at TLC. He is a current 9th grader and in his short time at TLC he has shown tremendous progress with regards to attendance, behavior, academics. Jax currently has a 95% employability score and has an A in seven of his classes. We are excited to see Jax continue grow as a leader in the TLC family on the way to becoming life ready.

October Staff Member of the Month

Mr. McKinnon is the October Staff Member of the Month at TLC. Mr. McKinnon teaches English and Educational Leadership at TLC. He is one of the longest tenured teachers at TLC, this being his 10th year. Mr. McKinnon has been instrumental in our development of student portfolios and outreach to Fayette County elementary schools. We are grateful for his leadership and dedication at TLC.

TLC School Improvement Update

Here are our goals for the 24-25 school year:

ATTENDANCE--We want every student to have a minimum of 85% attendance for the entire school year.

ACADEMIC GROWTH--We want every student to pass all of their classes.

LIFE READINESS--We want every student to meet the requirement for post secondary readiness according to the Kentucky Department of Education.
