Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
March 15th, 2024
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
With the third Quarter wrapping up next week, we know that grades are often on our students' minds. They are likely preparing for upcoming assessments, wrapping up projects, and double-checking to make sure all of their work is turned in.
We highly recommend having your student take time this weekend to check Infinite Campus, work to get caught up, or make a plan to complete any missing work. The goal is for students to submit anything missing, and student report cards are sent out.
We know that for some of our students, academics seem to come easily. They participate in their classes, have minimal work to take home at night and feel proud of their grades. And yet, for others, despite their best efforts, staying caught up with classwork and getting good grades can feel overwhelming. So if your child is struggling or needs support with their academics, we are here to help, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us. And finally, should you have specific questions about an assignment or task, we encourage you and your child to contact that teacher.
In partnership,
Rachel and Nancy
Muskego Lakes Principals

** This year, registration will not be first come, first served. As a result, parents can log in to Infinite Campus to enter course requests anytime during the open registration window. **
The Infinite Campus priority registration window will be open 8:00 AM Wednesday 4/3 through 4 PM Friday 4/5. At that time, registration will temporarily close so students can be scheduled into their requested classes.
Course requests during the Priority Registration period are not time stamped. It is not first come, first served.
Any classes with more requests than seats will be determined by lottery.
It is very important to select alternate courses in the event that a class is filled. If alternate classes are not selected, there is a greater likelihood of gaps in your child’s schedule.
Schedules will be posted to Infinite Campus 4 PM on Friday, April 19. At that time, late registration will reopen to families who have not yet registered, as well as the wait list for schedule change requests. Course availability may be limited.
Social Media Safety Tips from Officer Sandretti
Common chatting and social media apps include Snapchat, Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, BeReal, Roblox, Discord, and Signal. All these apps are just a few of the many apps that children use to communicate with friends or even strangers. Please remember most social media platforms require an age of 13 or older, and due to this, children will lie about their age to create an account. If your child is using these apps to communicate with friends, have conversations with your child about only adding people they know and have met in person. If an individual your child does not know has befriended your child, please block them and have them cease all communication. Predators, scammers and hackers are on these social media apps attempting to victimize children. When speaking with your child about social media apps, please assist them in setting up their accounts to ensure the accounts are set on private, and set the phone up to only allow app downloads with parental permission.
In my experience, the most common social media app used by children today is Snapchat. I encourage parents to go through their child’s Snapchat regularly with them to look for any concerning communication or pictures. Again, please make sure the account is set on private, which ensures that your child will have to accept the friend request. Otherwise these unknown individuals can add your child as a friend and immediately start a conversation. When you are going through their Snapchat account please access their photographs which can be accessed through the memories button (see attached picture). Once in this tab, look at all photographs to ensure they are appropriate, and also click on “my eyes only” which is a locked folder where
children can hide photographs.
On your child’s smartphone, periodically access their photographs folder to ensure these pictures are appropriate as well. On Iphones, access “photos”, and once in the albums portion of the app, scroll down to access the recently deleted and hidden photos folders. Both are naturally locked and need either face ID or pin number to access. On Android devices, go to the “photos” app, go to the library, then utilities. This is where your child could set up locked folders. Be aware that children can also hide apps through the setting on their devices. I encourage you to again consult with your phone provider as they should be able to assist in finding ways your child can hide information from you.
Other apps that may be downloaded to deceive you are the “Calculator Vault: App hider”, “Vault - Hide Pics, App Lock”, “Locker: Photo Vault”, and “Hide It Pro”. Again these are just a few apps known to hide photos or other items your child doesn’t want you to see. Other common practices to keep you and your family safe are to never post when you are going on vacation, post pictures of your address, or share any sensitive information on social media that strangers could gain access to.
