Dimond Newsletter
December 3 , 2024
Dear Dimond Families:
Winter break is fast approaching, which means finals start in 11 school days! You’ll see it again in the "Finals" section, but it’s worth mentioning here: students are expected to attend school during those days and will not be issued blue passes if they finished their final early. If you have an appointment already scheduled, please let our office know by December 17th. Additionally, it is district policy that finals will not be provided early to any student. If you know you will be gone, please speak with your teacher ahead of time and call the curriculum office to arrange a time to make up any missed finals right after winter break. For more information regarding finals please see the “Finals” section below.
Now is the time to check-in with your student regarding their grades and any last minute help they may need to end the semester strong and without any surprises. You may reach out to teachers to verify grades and assignments if necessary. Acceptance of late work is at the teacher’s discretion and the last week of the semester may be too late to make up assignments or fix a grade.
The end of the semester can be a stressful time for all of us, but especially students. Regular sleep, daily breakfast and healthy choices help keep the stress at bay. Sometimes teenagers need a nudge from us to recognize unhealthy habits and encouragement for better choices. Sometimes they have to learn through experience. Either way, we are all here to support them!
Warm Regards,
Principal D’Atri
Reminders Only For This Week's Newsletter
Finals
Semester 1 finals are quickly approaching. We wanted to take a minute to communicate some final exam expectations.
Final Exam Expectations -
Every class will have a final of some kind. This can be a test or presentation, but it will be of value to your students' class and be meaningful.
Students must remain in their classes for the duration of the period to help reduce hallway distractions and maintain a good testing environment for all students. Students will not be allowed to go to the library or another alternate location once they are done with their final.
No blue passes will be given either day of finals- parents please pre-arrange those prior to that day for known appointments.
No Finals may be taken early. If a student misses their final exam, a grade of 0% will be given with a chance for the student to make up the final when we get back from winter break. After the final is taken, a grade change form can be submitted by their teacher.
Extended School Year (ESY)
The purpose of extended school year is to allow students who scored between 50% - 59.9% at the end of the semester an opportunity to bring their grade to a D in the four core content areas. Your student’s teacher should be reaching out to you after the new year to discuss passing options for your student.
Extended School Year for 1st Semester will run from January 14th- 29th.
Student contact time is after school from 3:30-5:00 p.m.
Students will not be given new work; instead they will have the option to turn-in missing assignments or re-do assignments for more points.
Remote Learning Days Reminder
As the weather changes and we get further into the winter season, please review the following expectations for ASD’s remote learning days. Please help remind your students to bring home their chromebooks and chargers everyday.
Assignments will be posted for students no later than 10:00am
You are only responsible for work for the classes you were expecting to see that day (ie: if it is a Tuesday then you would only be responsible for work related to your 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th periods)
The assignment for the day can be building on previous content from the class or it can be an original assignment for that day.
Teachers will host office hours on Zoom for students from 10:30-11:30am and 2-3pm.
Zoom links are posted on their teachers Canvas home page or in their announcements section.
Students are not required to attend the Zoom sessions, but teachers will be available to answer questions if needed. .

Purchasing Dimond spirit wear online and arranging for office pick-up is a convenient way to handle gifts. Just be sure to specify during the purchase that it's a gift, to avoid unnecessary contact with the student for pick-up. This ensures a smooth and surprise-filled experience for the recipient. Check the Dimond’s PSTA website (https://dimondhighptsa.memberhub.com/) for details.
