Notes from the President
The show is getting closer and closer. We want to have a Booth Brigade workshop at the Church on the 24th of this month. We need to have 8 to 10 people to commit to be there from 9 to 2pm. Bring your machine and get ready to help sew what needs sewing or come and be ready to help with hand sewing, etc.
I hope to see you all at the Meeting.
Wanda

July Program
The July program, Our Quilting Journeys, will be presented by FWQG members Judi Janes and Grace Stroud. We will tell you how we got into quilting and show you the very first quilts we ever made. Then we will show some of our favorite quilts and tell you about our favorite designers, patterns, techniques, tools, etc. Learn how we’ve evolved (or not) as quilters in our twenty plus years as members of the Fort Worth Quilt Guild. We promise to be entertaining and maybe even funny.

Guild volunteers opportunities
Over 100 volunteers are needed from our 6 guilds to make this show a success. This will be done through Signup Genius. It will become available later this week. A Smores will go out with the link as soon as it is active. There are opportunities to help with checkin, checkout, setup, takedown, T-shirt sales, bag check, scribes, and probably some I have forgotten. Check as soon as possible to get the job and time you prefer. Please consider helping in some capacity.

HUGS quilts
Art Quilting Interest Group
This group explores the wonderfully diverse world of art quilting, and the materials and techniques used. No experience or training is needed, just curiosity about how things work and a willingness to experiment with creating without judging the “goodness” of the results. This is playtime!
BEES
ALZ Bee - open to new members!
The ALZ Bee met May 17 and hosted one of the JPS Volunteer Coordinators, Katie and her mother. We discussed fidget quilt construction and disbursement at JPS. They have a pretty good supply of fidget and NICU quilts presently, but would really like adult quilts to distribute to patients. The ALZ Bee will start making scrappy throw quilts 48x60 to donate.
If you want to contribute, we will be using 2.5 x 4.5" scraps for our first quilts.
Or come join us Thursday, June 22 (a change from usual Wednesday)! Contact Nancy Houston at 682-429-6895 if you would like to join us.

Tight Knots Bee
Start a Bee
One of the most fun parts of belonging to a Guild is getting to know other quilters. But, there aren’t many opportunities to actually get to SEW and learn from one another, except in a bee. Most of the guild bees have been around for many years and don’t have openings for many newcomers. If you want to get know more of your fellow members, start a new bee!
General Guidelines
- 7-9 members. Start with the people sitting near you at Guild or advertise in the bee section of the newsletter, or on the FB page.
- A place to meet: dining room table, living room, playroom, apartment clubhouse, nearby church… You may want to rotate hosting among those with enough space.
- Monthly meeting time for 1.5-4 hours. Some groups may also have periodic all-day project days or retreats.
- Some groups organize around a common interest: appliqué, modern, art, charity projects, while some are based on proximity.
- Start simply and see how the group’s dynamics play out through time. There are lots of activity ideas online.
BEV RAMSEY FUND
Bev Ramsey was a charter member of the guild, a past president, a teacher and a friend. We lost her way too early. The Bev Ramsey fund was set up to help those in need enjoy the things she loved very much, retreats and workshops.
QUILTS OF VALOR
Quilts of Valor
Our first award ceremony is scheduled for 3PM on June 26th, at Hollis Threads Quilt Shop in Lake Worth. There will be limited seating, but everyone is invited. Suzanne DiCarlo will be conducting the ceremony.
I have preprinted labels and backing fabric that has been donated for the Quilts of Valor.
If you have any questions or have a quilt to donate, please give me a call at 817-480-7606

Lovies
If you would like to make one (or 100) take two pieces of 14" square fabric - one cotton, and one flannel. Sew them right sides together, leaving a gap to turn. Turn, then topstitch around the entire piece.
Beverly Peterson collects them at Guild meetings to give to Cook Children's. Cook's is always very grateful for the gifts.
NICU QUILTS
NICU Quilts
We primarily do 36"x36" pre-washed quilts and fidget quilts, but JPS has asked for adult size quilts as well. See sizes below.
One of the JPS staff attended the May meeting of the ALZ Bee and left with a car full of donations.
Other items accepted are lovies (10x10 or 12x12), resolution squares, ostomy bag covers and post-mastectomy heart pillows. Adult quilt sizes requested are Lap (39"x48"), Throw (52"x60") and Twin (60"x75") More info on these is on the following website.
Thanks for your help.
