Star Spotlight ✨
To allow our Centennial families to get to know more about the achievements of Star students, we will be highlighting a different student in our weekly newsletters. They will have an opportunity to share some fun facts about themselves as well as convey some of their most recent accomplishments.
Do you know of a student who deserves a spotlight? Send an email to our Family Ambassador, Aneeka Bashir abashir@columbus.k12.oh.us, with their name and grade so they can be featured in an upcoming newsletter!
Veerathorn Sudsanguan
Meet our extraordinary sophomore, Veerathorn Sudsanguan, a vibrant artist and talented musician who has been making waves since joining us just six months ago from Thailand. Not only does he excel in the arts, but he also dives into the world of sports, contributing his skills to the swim team. Despite being relatively new to our community, Veerathorn has embraced his American experience wholeheartedly and is thoroughly enjoying his time here! We are thrilled that he is apart of the Star family.
Q: Can you tell us about a specific academic accomplishment or project you are particularly proud of?
A: I made a 4.0 the previous semester; I’m glad that all my hard work paid off—it’s a great feeling, really.
Q: Are there any teachers or subjects that have had a significant impact on your academic journey?
A: It’d be Choir. I joined ensemble this quarter and it’s been a while since I’ve last sung and I’m glad to be getting a chance to do it again.
Q: What sports do you participate in?
A: I am part of the school’s swim team.
Q: If you could choose one word to describe your high school experience so far, what would it be and why?
A: It has been amazing! I just moved here to Columbus a few months ago, and everyone has been fully supportive of me. The teachers especially, they really take great care to consider and make sure that me and the other students are doing well in school
Q: What's your favorite high school memory, and why does it stand out to you?
A: My favorite high school memory would be getting to be part of Centennial’s Swim Team. We have a supportive team that was able to keep me trying though out the season though I was rusty at first. No matter how bad I would mess up, I would always find them there at the end of the pool cheering me in the events I’m doing—that to me is special.
Q: Is there a hidden talent or hobby you have that your classmates might not know about?
A: A lot of people know me from my drawings, but I’d say that I do more stuff in the artistic field also. I can sing and somewhat dance; I’ve been part of serval plays and musicals in the past (not yet at Centennial though). Back in my old school I was part of the cheer team. I’d also say that I’m pretty good at math, too!
Q: What advice would you give to fellow students looking to excel academically and engage in extracurricular activities?
A: Yes! Join any theater activities, plays, or musicals. I know a lot of talented people here at Centennial that fear taking part mostly because they are too shy or are scared that people will judge them; I want to tell them that they shouldn’t worry! I am friends with lots of great people who are part of the theater crew here at Centennial, they are THE COOLEST people ever. They will never judge you; I swear!
