This week's header photo (above) features the Wilkins School Student Council holding some of the donations they have received so far during their coat drive. The Wilkins Student Council, under the direction of advisor Mrs. Pearl, have collected 59 coats so far! The donated coats will be given to Anton's Cleaners, through a partnership with Jordan’s Furniture, to be cleaned and distributed to those in need in the local area. Keep up the good work!
From the Desk of the Superintendent
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break and was able to spend some time with family and friends.
We have a busy couple of weeks ahead before winter break begins. Winter sports tryouts and practices have started and regular season games will be starting soon for our high school and middle school sports teams. And, band and chorus students are rehearsing for their upcoming winter concerts.
Now that we are in December and the official start of winter is right around the corner (we already saw a little bit of snow on Thursday), this is a good time to share our school cancellation and delayed opening plan for when there is inclement weather. Click on the button below:
I encourage you to bookmark this page for future reference.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Joseph F. Baeta, Ed.D.

Select Board to Schedule Special Town Meeting for Elementary Building Project
The Select Board met on Tuesday and unanimously voted to move forward with scheduling a special Town Meeting about funding the new elementary school building project. This is another positive development in eventually being able to hold a town-wide vote for approving the project.
At the special Town Meeting on November 20, 2024, Town Meeting members approved, by a vote of 111-34, a non-binding article that requested that the Select Board schedule a vote for funding the new consolidated elementary school building project.
The Select Board held a public hearing on the topic Tuesday night. Following their vote Tuesday night, the next step is that the Select Board will meet next week and open a warrant for a special Town Meeting. This special Town Meeting would be held in February. If Town Meeting members show support for the project at the special Town Meeting, the Select Board would then schedule an election, which would coincide with the Annual Town Election in April.
O'Donnell Middle School's Project 351 Ambassador
We are proud to share that Tori Chaisson has been chosen as the O'Donnell Middle School's Project 351 ambassador for this school year!
Project 351 provides a year of service and leadership opportunities for 8th grade ambassadors from each of the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts. As the ambassador from the OMS, Tori will take part in the Project 351 Launch Day in Boston in January.
Each year at OMS, faculty silently nominate deserving 8th graders for consideration as the Project 351 ambassador from OMS and the Town of Stoughton. Faculty were asked to nominate students based on the Project 351 selection criteria of recognizing quiet and unsung heroes who exemplify values of kindness, compassion, humility, and gratitude and demonstrate a strong ethic of service.
"Tori is a polite, caring, and diligent student. Tori demonstrates kindness, compassion for others, academic strength, and has exceptional teamwork," OMS Principal Katrina Crowley notes. "Tori is involved in our school community and is a role-model student. She is involved in our school band and is a member of our award-winning Stoughton High School Marching Band. She also participates in the morning announcements as one of our news anchors. Since 6th grade, Tori has volunteered to help teachers after school in their classrooms."
Six other OMS students in grade 8 were nominated to be the Project 351 ambassador: Christa Mikhael, Oluwademilade Joel Omidiji, Kayden Pham, Angel Phan, Sophia Singer, and Ava Thibodeaux. These students are recognized for their hard work, character, and commitment to service. Congratulations to all of the OMS Project 351 nominees!
