From the Desk of Father Jim…
THE PARKING SPOTS BEHIND THE OFFICE
At one time, there was a handicapped parking spot in the parking lot behind the offices. It served the side door for what was then the church (now the parish hall). We removed the signage, but the handicapped symbol has remained on the ground.
Someone left a sharp note on an employee’s car threatening to phone the police, thinking she had parked in a handicapped spot. A week later, the police were phoned and the car was ticketed. When we explained to the police that the spot is actually no longer a handicapped spot, the ticket was voided.
I wish this person had phoned or dropped by the office before phoning the police. We could have explained the situation and saved all the drama. We have plans to remove the symbol but the recent rains have delayed that project.
A Note from Mrs. Goldsworthy
After a week with my family, and another few days spent at the NCEA Conference (National Catholic Education Assoc.), I am back in the building as of this morning. I had several delays on the way home, and got in during the early hours of the morning, but couldn't stay away. Thank you to my team on campus who kept everything running smoothly with portico drop offs and road closures thrown into the mix!
One of my favorite takeaways from the conference this past week was Archbishop Wenski saying that most schools teach the test, but Catholic schools teach the "Yes." That yes is the same as Mary's fiat - yes to God, yes to his commands, yes to growing in holiness.
Don't forget to come out to Goldfish Swim tonight for our CSSE fundraiser with PTO. I'll be catching up on sleep, but I'm sure it will be a blast!
Please pray for...
Please pray for the repose of the soul of our Pope Francis, may he rest in peace. Eternal rest grant unto Francis, O Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. | Please pray for the cardinals who will meet to select the new Pope. May God guide them in choosing a good and faithful leader who is pleasing to Him. | Please pray for John McGuinness, Jack & Joss Lupp's grandfather, who is going through radiation for thyroid cancer. | Pray for Mrs. Lupp's uncle, Patrick Lupp, who is having open heart surgery this month. His surgery will be very precarious due to his condition following previous illnesses. | Please pray for the strength and healing of Kindergarten teacher Jen Taylor as she receives cancer treatment. | Please pray for Mrs. Hutchison's husband, Joe, who is continuing to heal. | Please pray for Nora Blevin's aunt, Jennifer, who is receiving treatment for cancer. | Please pray for Coach K's niece, Saylor, as she continues to fight through a rare muscle disorder. | Please pray for Coach K's dad who is battling cancer, and approaching the end of his chemo treatments.
Blessed Stanley Rother, pray for us now, and intercede on behalf of those in need of God's healing.
If you would like to include something in the Prayer Requests section, please contact Kim Hattaway at media@steugeneschool.org.

This is an opportunity for your student to showcase their learning from throughout the year! Stop by classrooms, and let your student guide you through what they have learned! Aftercare will close at 5pm that evening so everyone may enjoy the Expo. If your student is in Aftercare, a parent/guardian must check them out before they can go to the Expo.
Make the evening a little easier by getting dinner after. Our 6th grade class will be selling pizza and drinks in the gym from 5:15-6:00pm that evening as well.

Fine Arts Night is May 1st! We will have double the fun on Thursday as families are invited to visit the Eagle Expo (4:45-5:45pm) THEN attend Fine Arts Night (6:15pm)!
CUPCAKE COMPETITION: All students are invited to share their culinary arts skills by entering Mrs. Whitmire's cupcake competition! School Advisory Council Applications
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is seeking applicants to replace members who are completing their term this spring. The primary role of the SAC is to collaborate as a whole with and serve in an advisory role to the principal and pastor in policymaking to guide our school community in fulfilling our mission. We are looking for volunteers with a background in strategic planning, philanthropic advancement, and finance. To serve, you must be a practicing Catholic, St. Eugene parishioner, and be 18 years or older. If you’re interested in serving The Catholic School of St. Eugene in this way, please send an email to sacchair@steugeneschool.org by May 5th introducing yourself and highlighting strengths, experience/expertise, and any aspects of the school you are passionate about. SAC meets one evening a month, and members will need to be available for committee meetings and certain school events as well.
Library News
Please be looking for any school library books that are overdue or lost. Notices are automatically emailed to a guardian's email when a book is due, then again when a book is more than 28 days overdue. All books are due to the library by Friday, May 9th. Beginning the following week, Mrs. Hattaway will be sending out notice of replacement cost for lost books and large fines. Please have your child check their account for any fines or fees for which they are responsible. They may always ask to help in the library in lieu of paying smaller fine.

Parish News
Easter Blessings – Strengthen Our Parish Together- Happy Easter! As we celebrate the resurrection of Christ and the joy of new life, we are reminded of the strength found in faith, family, and community. This season of renewal is a perfect time to reflect on how we can grow together as a parish.
We invite all parents and families with children (ages 18 or younger) to share your experiences by completing the Catholic Family Survey. This survey, developed by the National Community of Catechetical Leaders in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Oklahoma and St. Eugene Parish will help us better understand your family life and faith journey. Your insights will help shape a parish plan to:
- Support Families – Ensuring resources meet the real needs of parents and children.
- Strengthen Faith Formation – Helping families deepen their spiritual journey.
- Build Community – Bringing parish families closer in faith and fellowship.
