Senior Trip Committee
Over the past few years, we have not had an official Senior Trip. Instead, groups of students (and their parents) organized those on their own. If we are to have an official Senior Trip this year, we will need to form a committee, gauge interest, and then begin planning. If you are a parent or guardian of a senior at OECHS and would like to join this committee, please fill out the form below.
Senior Celebration Committee
OECHS and Senior Parents have organized a Senior Celebration for our graduates every year. They have ranged from lock-in events to evening events in several different locations. If you are a Senior Parent/Guardian and you would like to help organize the Senior Celebration for the Class of 2025, please fill out the following form:

Senior Seminar and EPF Honors- Seniors have their last economics assignment due this Wednesday! This week also marks the end of the high school grading period (2nd six-weeks), so any make-up work is due for credit! This week, we will look at some of our submissions from our economics assignment and look at how we can leverage supply, demand, and marketing in our favor as consumers.
Seniors have begun submitting their college applications in Common App. If you have not submitted yours yet, keep an eye on the early action deadlines! Many are due by November 1st!
We will have Senior Seminars on Wednesday and Thursday only this week as I have make-up PreACT on Monday and observations on Tuesday.--Mr. Strope
Class of 2026
Junior Seminar-We will continue our study of the ACT English section. All juniors have a NoRedInk assignment and access to ACT practice questions. It has been stressed that they need to treat the ACT as if it is a class with at least an hour of homework/practice per week!

Driving Permits, Licenses, and GPAs
"North Carolina House Bill 769 became effective December 1, 1997 and reflects a coordinated statewide effort to motivate and encourage students to complete high school. This legislation requires that a student's driving permit or license be revoked if a student is unable to maintain adequate progress or drops out of school. Adequate progress is defined as passing 70% of all courses and is determined by first semester grades and second semester grades for schools on block scheduling. For schools on a traditional six-period day schedule, grades are determined by first semester grades and end-of-year grades."
Students need to maintain "adequate progress" to remain eligible for permits and licenses while in high school. Each semester, we are to notify students (and the district) when any students are not making adequate progress at the end of a semester/year. Students will then have to earn back the ability to have a permit or license after the next semester's grades are complete (and pay $50 to the DMV to have their permit or license reinstated). Bottom line: Keep your grades up in your high school and college classes or you will lose your driver's permit or license!
