EVERYONE LEARNING, EVERYONE LEADING
Dear Longacre Families,
We have exciting news to share! Longacre has been invited to apply for LEGACY Distinction, which is the highest certification level a Leader in Me School can receive. There are only 14 Leader in Me schools in the entire world who have been granted Legacy Distinction.
To be invited to apply for LEGACY Distinction the school has to meet the following criteria:
Lighthouse School Certification has been maintained for a minimum of eight years.
The school exhibits innovation and sustained growth to sustaining levels in the majority of Lighthouse criteria.
The school has made and continues to make an innovative and distinctive contribution to the Leader in Me community or the education community at large.
Our LEGACY review visit is scheduled for Thursday, February 27th and we need your help! We are creating a video that includes testimonials of how the habits have empowered our students, teachers and families and invite your family to submit one.
Here are the directions:
Video record yourself/family or child completing this sentence: Learning the 7 habits at Longacre has empowered me/my child/my family to… (we are using the word "EMPOWER" as the legacy we want to leave for our students, staff and families, therefore we want to highlight that word throughout the video).
The video submissions should be brief- less than one minute.
Upload your video to this folder by Friday, February 7th: Longacre Legacy Videos
Thank you in advance for synergizing to help us showcase our leadership journey. As always, feel free to contact me or the main office at 248-489-3733 if you have any questions.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry, Principal
**Join us for HERITAGE NIGHT on January 30th**
Heritage Night is a way to recognize and celebrate all of the cultures and heritages that make up our school family. You can be a part of the evening by representing your family heritage with food, clothing, and/or a display, or you can simply attend and learn about other families.
We would love to have families represent their culture with wearing traditional, formal clothes, or any attire that would represent part of your family's heritage.
You can make a display with items, pictures, poster, etc. that teaches others something about your family and their heritage.
You can also bring in a traditional food (allergy safe-completely nut free) to go with your display. Serving utensils will be provided, but please bring food to share with a large crowd! Family members are welcomed and you can be at your display to tell others about your heritage.

Support Our Troops via the Junior Optimist Shoe Drive!
Do you have athletic shoes sitting around taking up space and collecting dust?
Led by North Farmington High and Farmington High’s Junior Optimist Clubs and supported by some of the Junior Optimists clubs in elementary schools across the district, the Junior Optimists are having a district-wide shoe drive.
If you or your child(ren) have any athletic footwear you no longer need, please consider donating it to this drive!
Gently used athletic shoes yield a higher profit while well worn sneakers are properly recycled. We'll take your athletic shoes regardless of their condition! All proceeds will go to the "A Million Thanks" organization (https://amillionthanks.org/), which supports our troops and their families.
Junior Optimists will be collecting during the month of January. A box is located in Longacre's main entrance for you to put your donations in. Thank you!
January's Leader in Me/Positive Behavior Support Lessons
During the month of January, students will be working on Relationship Skills: The abilities to establish and maintain healthy and supportive relationships and to effectively navigate settings with diverse individuals and groups. Such as communicating effectively, developing positive relationships, practicing teamwork and collaborative problem-solving, seeking and offering support.
