THE RPI PULSE

Good Afternoon RPI Families,

We have been fielding many questions about Chromebooks and getting them to students. Here is the most current information I have:

• We only have 300 left in the district and they have been allocated for use for Rocket Virtual students.
• Our order of new devices has been pushed back further than expected due to the pandemic and a world-wide shortage.
• We are having teachers collect names and compiling lists of those who still need one.
• All communication related to when they need to be brought to school and the management of them will be communicated by your student's teacher(s).

I know this isn't really an update but I wanted to let you know because many are asking.

Just a reminder...We WILL have a half day this Friday, September 18. Students will be released from school at 10:55 am.

This weeks character strength is: Curiosity

It was so great to hear students sharing and talking about their "Top 3" character strengths. The connections they made with one another were quite remarkable.

As we dive into our week on CURIOSITY, I would encourage all of our Rocket Families to explore THIS CHARACTER STRENGTH Card (click the link).

This quote from Walt Disney really resonates with our kids:

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."

This is so important for us to consider because likely the jobs our kids will have when they get older haven't even been thought of yet. How can curiosity prepare them for their future? Their relationships? Etc.

This year, the RPI Staff have been challenged with "being a light" for our students. The reality is that anyone can be a light for someone else. This is the spirit of the Positivity Project and will be a guide for us this year. If you have a great story to share with us about how one of our students is being a light to someone else or how they have grown in their own lives, we would love for you to share with us.

• Starting Monday (September 14 -- Tomorrow), Virtual students can pick up their lunch/breakfast meals at the high school from 2pm-3pm. Please enter off of Giles Road!
• You will receive 5 days of breakfast and lunch when you pick it up!

All students who are dropped off at school need to follow these guidelines for a safe start and end of the day:

• Students need to be dropped off in the Getty Street Parking Lot.
• Students need to exit the vehicle on the passenger side ONLY when the car is located near a side walk.
• DO NOT drop your student off and ask them to walk in front of another car. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

The start and end of the day are likely going to be congested and some people may be less than patient. Please treat each other with grace, patience and understanding. If we all do this, OUR KIDS will remain safe and see a great example of how to react during stressful times.

CLICK HERE to watch our drop off safety video! If you don't...someone is likely saying this about you! (Insert smiley face here!) All kidding aside, PLEASE be cautious and patient with those who don't follow this expectation...because it will happen!

• Doors will open for the day at 7:35 am. Please do NOT drop your student off prior to 7:25 am.
• Doors will lock for the day at 1:20 pm. Students will not be allowed in the building after this time.

• Breakfast In the Classroom will be served on Monday this week only!
• When students grab their "grab and go" lunch on Monday after school, it will include their breakfast for the next day! It will remain this way until further notice!
