Dragon Community Newsletter #23
Denn John Middle School 24-25: February 3, 2025
Together! Always!
Dragon Community,
Welcome to February! As we enter this new month, we have an exciting and meaningful opportunity to reflect on important aspects of our history and community. February is not only a time to celebrate Black History Month, but it is also Kindness Month at our school. Both of these observances provide us with valuable chances to teach and model respect, empathy, and unity among our students.
Black History Month allows us to highlight the incredible contributions of Black individuals throughout history and the ongoing fight for equality. We encourage our students to learn about and honor these stories, enriching their understanding of our diverse world.
At the same time, we are embracing Kindness Month, a time when we emphasize the importance of showing care, compassion, and respect in everything we do. It is an excellent opportunity to remind our students that kindness is powerful, and small acts of kindness can create positive change in their communities.
Finally, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the vital role that parental involvement plays in the success of our students. We value your partnership and encourage you to continue supporting our efforts to create a nurturing and enriching school environment. Your engagement helps foster a sense of belonging and achievement for our children.
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to a wonderful month ahead.

At Home Support
1. Parent Portal Sign Up
The best way to know live data of your student's performance is through the parent portal! Here you can see grades, attendance, discipline referrals, teacher notes, and testing information in live time. For your reference, below you will find the attachment to sign up. I highly recommend this for all parents!
2. Monitor Devices at Home
As our students spend more time online, it’s important to remember that monitoring your child’s devices at home helps ensure their safety and well-being. By staying involved in their digital world, you can guide them in making responsible choices, protect them from harmful content, and maintain open communication about the challenges they may encounter online. Your active role in overseeing their online activities is a key part of helping them navigate the digital world safely.
3. Help us Develop Student Interests at Home
We believe that every student has unique talents and interests, and we’re excited to partner with you in helping them explore and develop those passions. One of the best ways to nurture your child’s curiosity is by encouraging them to explore their hobbies and interests at home. Whether it’s sports, art, music, reading, or science, these activities can spark creativity, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
We also invite you to get involved in school activities that align with your child’s interests. By participating in or supporting school clubs, events, and projects, you can help strengthen their connection to their passions and show them that their interests are valued in both the home and school environment.
