CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2024
On Tuesday, June 25, Averill Park Central School District’s Class of 2024 celebrated the District’s 93rd Annual Commencement at the MVP Arena in Albany. In total, 203 graduates walked across the stage.

MOVING UP
All three elementary schools held their moving up ceremonies. Congratulations to all!
SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPT. HAS NEW LEADERSHIP
The Special Education Department in the Averill Park Central School District will be under new leadership going into the 2024-25 school year as Sarah Flannery was appointed as the Director of Special Education and Christina Mein was appointed as the Assistant Director! Read more here.
INTERNET SAFETY TIPS FOR THE SUMMER
As we enter the summer months, we hope everyone in our school community enjoys some much-needed rest, relaxation, and fun. With children having more free time at home during the next two months, it is likely that they will be spending more time online. While the internet offers a wealth of entertainment and information, it also contains potential risks that we all must be mindful of to ensure our children’s safety. Read more here.
MHSL CELEBRATED 2ND YEAR OF STUDENT COUNCIL
The Miller Hill-Sand Lake Elementary School Student Council celebrated its second year this week! The Council was made of 12 fourth and fifth grade elected officers who represented their homerooms and our school community.
PES HELD ITS FINAL PES PRIDE ASSEMBLY
Poestenkill Elementary School held its last PES Pride assembly recently. They recognized the June PES Proud students and celebrated all the hard work and wonderful accomplishments of everyone at PES this year.
WSL STUDENTS MADE BRISTLE BOTS
Recently, 2C and 4S buddies culminated WSL’s One School One Book experience by building Bristle Bots, thanks to the generosity and support of their PTA.
SL@AMS PARTICIPATED IN A COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECT
SL@AMS alongside Mrs. Baker, participated in the community mural project at the Sand Lake Library on June 13. Everyone had a blast painting and spending time with the extremely talented facilitators! SL@AMS was thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such an integral project within the community. They celebrated a successful end of the year at Sand Lake Merchant with gelato!

This Summer, New York State is launching a new Summer EBT program that provides households with food benefits to help cover the cost of groceries when school is out of session and students cannot rely on school meals during the weekday.
