Noon Message to Families

Cedar Hill ISD Families & Community,
We have a voice. These days, it’s easy to get lost in taking the kids to after-school activities and helping with homework. Many of us spend our precious little free time shuffling through social media to share our opinions on the latest pop culture trends. What’s truly important is our ability to make our voices count for the lives of our children and young ones. The best way to do that is to remember to vote.
Don't wait, act now! Early Voting for the Cedar Hill Independent School District Bond election starts today (Monday, April 22) and runs through Tuesday, April 30. Your early vote can make a significant difference.
Early Voting locations are:
Cedar Hill High School, 1 Longhorn Boulevard
Collegiate Academy & High School and Dr. Peggy M. Wilson STEM Center, 1515 West Belt Line Road
Alan E. Sims Recreation Center, 310 East Parkerville Road
Early Voting Days/Hours are:
April 22-April 26 – 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
April 27 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
April 28 – 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
April 29-30 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Why The Need for Bond Propositions A and B?
The Cedar Hill Independent School District has not passed a Bond since 2012. The Class of 2024 seniors, who will graduate next month, were in Kindergarten. As any homeowner knows, decisions to repair and renovate do not eliminate costs but merely postpone them, often at a higher price down the road.
If approved, Prop A will not only enhance security but also bring about exciting changes such as new playgrounds and flexible furniture to all Cedar Hill ISD campuses. Prop B, on the other hand, will equip our students and teachers with the latest technology, replacing outdated laptops and ensuring a modern learning environment.
You can learn more about both of these Propositions at chisd.net/bond
Thank you in advance for making a plan to cast your vote.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gerald B. Hudson
Superintendent
Cedar Hill ISD
If your student is enrolled in CHISD on the last day of school in 2023 (May 26, 2023), then your student is categorized as a returning student. If your student attended CHISD during the 2021-2022 or any previous school year but transferred to another school outside of CHISD, they are new to the district.
Children who arrive at kindergarten prepared to learn perform better throughout school and complete more years of education and providing high quality early learning experiences – including pre-kindergarten – helps families prepare their children to achieve and succeed.
For the 2024-25 school year, Cedar Hill ISD will offer Prek 3 programs at two CHISD elementary schools:
- Waterford Oaks Elementary School
- Lake Ridge Elementary School (general education prek, Montessori prek is at capacity)
For the 2024-25 school year, all Cedar Hill ISD elementary schools will offer free full-day prek and kindergarten programs for 4 year olds!
If you are registering a student who has never attended a CHISD school, no children in your household have attended or currently attend CHISD, and you do not have a Family Access account, click this link to begin registration.
Register Early: Secure Your Child's Educational Journey
As we gear up for the upcoming school year, we want to emphasize the importance of registering your child early. Registering early ensures a smooth transition into the new academic year and plays a crucial role in securing your child's place in our school community.
Here are several reasons why registering early is essential:
Guaranteed Placement: Registering early guarantees your child a spot in their desired school and ensures they have access to all the resources and opportunities available to students in our district. Avoid the last-minute rush and secure your child's place in their preferred school by registering as soon as possible.
Planning and Preparation: Early registration allows our school administration to plan and prepare more effectively for the upcoming school year. By knowing the number of students enrolled in advance, we can allocate resources, hire staff, and make necessary arrangements to ensure a seamless start to the school year.
Access to Resources and Services: Registering early ensures that your child has timely access to essential resources and services, such as textbooks, school supplies, transportation, and extracurricular activities. Early registrants have the advantage of being first in line to receive these essential services, giving them a head start on their educational journey.
Smooth Transition: Registering early gives your child ample time to transition into their new school environment, meet their teachers, and familiarize themselves with their classmates and surroundings. This can help alleviate any anxiety or stress of starting a new school year.
Compliance with Deadlines: Registering early ensures that you meet all registration deadlines and requirements set forth by our school district. Avoid the risk of missing important deadlines by completing the registration process promptly.
Avoiding Waitlists: Some schools may have limited capacity, and late registrants may be placed on a waitlist if all spots have been filled. Registering early increases your child's chances of securing a spot in their preferred school and avoids the disappointment of being placed on a waitlist.
We encourage all parents/guardians to prioritize early registration for their child's education. Your proactive approach benefits your child and contributes to our school community's overall efficiency and effectiveness.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the registration process, please don't hesitate to contact our school office. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to your child's education.
