You are important!
I have heard people say that the older children get parental involvement is not as needed or essential. While it is true that with age comes independence, parental involvement in children's education will always be needed and welcomed.
What are ways to stay connected with your child's school? Email or text the teacher, check your child's grades through skyward family access, attend conferences, and support school events. Another to stay informed is by asking your child open-ended questions and taking the time to listen Here are some tips from kidshealth.org.
Communicating With Your Child
Here are a few suggestions to aid communication:
- Make time to hear about the day's activities; be sure your child knows you're actively interested and listening carefully.
- Remember to talk with your kids, not at them.
- Ask questions that go beyond "yes" or "no" answers to prompt more developed conversation.
- Take advantage of time during car trips or standing in line at stores to talk with your child.
Ways I Can Help!
- Assist with school supplies
- Connect you with your child's teacher
- Help you create a Skyward account
- Provide you with a list of resources for rent, mental health, food, shelter, etc
- I am here to listen :-)
