Asa Packer News
9/6/24
Please see below for this week's news.
Drill Information
Pa School Code requires that an Emergency Response Drill (Lockdown, Lockout, Lock-in) be conducted within the first 90 days of school. This drill was previously scheduled and has historically occurred at Asa Packer during the first few weeks in September. Our drill will occur next week.
Students and staff reviewed and practiced our fire drill and weather emergency drill today. Fire drills will continue to occur on a monthly basis.
Transportation Office
School office hours are until 4:00. If there is a transportation issue and you need to contact their office, they can be reached at 610-861-0360.

Parent Survey
Please consider taking this 5-minute survey to let the Asa Packer Board know what went well and suggestions for additions/changes. Constructive feedback, both positive and suggestions for improvement, helps create even better experiences for our children, families, and Asa staff. The information gathered will be taken with gratitude and used for the upcoming year.

Absences
In the event of an absence, a parent or Dr. note is required. Absence notes may be emailed directly to the office at asapackerattendance@basdschools.org. If you are sending the teacher a Dojo message, an email message to this address should also be completed.
Welcome Mrs. Diomedo
As many of you know, Mrs. Cressman retired over the summer. I can't even begin to thank her for her incredible dedication and years of exceptional service to our Asa Packer Family. Her hard work has made a tremendous impact on our community and will be deeply missed. I am truly grateful for all she has done and will miss her greatly.
With that being said, I'd like to welcome Ms. Diomedo to our Asa Packer family. She will be replacing Mrs. Cressman. She can be contacted through e-mail at bdiomedo@basdschools.org.
Change of Pickup
If you forget to send a note about a change of pickup or an early pickup, please call the office. This way we can be sure the teacher gets notified. Do not send a Dojo message or email the teacher during the day as the message may not be seen until a later time.
Contact Information
If you moved over the summer, please submit updated contact information to the Main Office. This will allow mailings to be sent to the correct address. Verification of residency will be needed to update an address in the district system.

Parking Lot - Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Review the procedures below, and follow them to ensure our students’ safety at all times.
Please remember:
When dropping off or picking up students by automobile: You may park your car and walk your child across the bus lane; or you may drive up to the student drop-off area, have your child exit the car and walk on the sidewalk next to the building. If you are getting out of your car to assist your child, please park your car in the lot and do not park in the drop-off lane. Do not stop and park in the drop-off lane.
- Students and parents must use the crosswalks at all times.
- Cars are not allowed in the bus lane.
- Park in the designated parking spaces only and not along the curb.
- Walk and get your child(ren) (when picking them up early or at dismissal time).
- Do not leave your child(ren) unattended outside the school, before or after school hours.
- Follow posted signs. They will be enforced.
- No pets are allowed on school property.
Thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation.
Handicap Parking Spaces
Please don't block entry into the handicap parking spaces during drop off. We have families that need access to the spaces and at times they are unable to pull in due to the spaces being blocked. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Entry/Dismissal
- Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will enter/dismiss through the Primary doors.
- Grade 2 and Grade 3 students will enter/dismiss through the Main Entrance.
- Grade 4 and Grade 5 students will enter/dismiss through the Intermediate doors.
- Bus students will enter through the appropriate Primary and Intermediate doors. They will be dismissed one bus at a time after the walkers have entered the building.
- If you are escorting your child to the door, please park in the lot. Please use your good judgement and keep safety the highest priority.
