Greetings Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone is well, staying cool and enjoying time with their family.

Wow! It has only been a few weeks and your student has been missed. I wish all the students the best as they enter the 8th grade. Please remind students to complete their summer reading because it is counted as a grade in September (information is listed below).

Free Sports Physicals: If you think your child will be interested in playing a sport next year (Fall, Winter, and/or Spring) or if he/she is already playing a sport, please read the attached information. The CASD will hold a free sports physical opportunity on July 17, so please register your student. Students must get a physical every year to play a sport. If this opportunity on July 17 is missed, it will be the parents’ responsibility to provide the school with verification that a private physician completed a PIAA physical.

Chromebooks: We made sure that every student was in possession of a Chromebook by June 6, 2024. Please take safe care of the Chromebook. If you did not pay the insurance, you will be responsible for repairs, and be responsible if the Chromebook is lost, broken, or stolen. The insurance fee must be paid annually in order for your Chromebook to be covered. Mr. Maloney will provide you with further details.

Unfortunately, this is my last e-mail to my esteemed parents. In July, you will receive an e-mail from Mr. Maloney (Principal). It has been amazing watching your student mature and grow academically, and socially. Attached, please find a power-point that I put together from activities that occurred the last week of school. The students had fun, laughed, and enjoyed activities with staff and their peers.

Students received summer reading assignments from teachers and teachers should have informed parents. Students must complete a summer reading assignment and books are found online. Students entering 8th Grade must read one book from their grade-specific required book list. Book lists were curated to align with the theme of the first module in each grade level to help build background knowledge to support comprehension and content learning. To demonstrate student understanding of the text, the student will choose either a fiction or non-fiction book and complete the corresponding graphic organizer.

The graphic organizer is due on 9/23/2024 and this assignment will count as a homework grade.
