MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The Importance of Goals
At Imagine Schools, we focus on Six Measures of Excellence:
Academic Growth
Character Development
Parent Choice
Shared Values
Economic Sustainability
School Development
We start the year with new goals to make our school the best in Toledo for our scholars! You can see them posted in our lobby.
For example, the Six Measures of Excellence for Academic Growth states, “All Imagine schools will achieve a median SGP (Student Growth Percentile) of 50 or more in reading and mathematics for each student quartile within each grade.”
We do the same goal setting with each individual child. With our STAR assessments, we can see where they start off in the Fall and track their progress throughout the year with the goal of reaching that 50 SGP mark and achieveing proficiency, or better, on the annual state assessments. We love to celebrate each scholar’s accomplishments when they reach a new goal!
You can help us meet, and exceed, all of our goals by getting your scholars to school each and every day and encouraging them to pay attention in class, listen to their teachers, and ask questions if they have difficulties with any of the lessons. Show that you value their learning by asking questions about their day and ask them to do their best on all of their work.
What is SGP? An SGP compares a student’s growth to that of his or her academic peers performing similarly academically in the same grade nationwide.
Celebrating Math Fact Mastery!
"At Madison, we share lots of wonderful memories with our students. One of the most important memories for them is remembering the development of new skills and having confidence in those skills. We are very proud of our students that are continuing to expand their skills and demonstrate growth." — Mrs. Day, Principal
WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA PERFORMANCE

WE ARE THANKFUL FOR OUR STUDENTS!

WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?
Family is important to our Kindergarten scholars. If you ask them what they are most thankful for, family members are the most popular response!
THANKFUL FOR OUR VETERANS

SIXTH GRADERS STARTING A NEW NOVEL STUDY
SPECIAL THANKS TO TLCPL!
Students in Mrs. Mims' 6th grade class are starting a new book study during their English Language Arts time. (Shout out to our school librarian, Charlotte Adams, who worked with April Schwarzkopf and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library to arrange a brand new classroom set of books for each of the students for the duration of this lesson!) Over the next few weeks they will be following the tale of Jerome in "Ghost Boys." It's a fictional story, from award-winning author Jewell Parker Rhodes, about a black boy killed by a police officer who goes on to meet other Ghost Boys from different historical times while also observing the effects of his death on his family and community.
Mrs. Mims introduces “Ghost Boys” and asks for their initial predictions based on just what they read on the back cover.
KINSHIP NAVIGATOR PROGRAM
A huge thanks to Marsha Rose, LSW, from the Area Office on Aging, who came out to Imagine Madison Avenue School of Arts to speak about the Kinship Navigation Program which is designed to support grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives raising children. She walked through the many things this program offers and sat and answered questions, one-on-one, about the various benefits available with some amazing women that have welcomed children into their homes. Those in attendance felt it was a very worthwhile and valuable program.
If you could not make it to see her presentation, here is a link to the Kinship Navigation Program Overview Presentation.

OUR HARVEST MARKET CAN HELP FEED YOUR FAMILY!
The Harvest Market School Pantry Program is now available for the Madison Avenue School of Arts’ community! The Harvest Market is designed to address child hunger with greater flexibility and choice. This program aims to provide emergency food assistance to children and families directly at Madison Avenue School of Arts. The School Pantry Program offers a more empowering choice model, ensuring families receive the support they need without having to leave the school environment. Our goal remains steadfast: to alleviate hunger and support the well-being of children across Northwest Ohio.
If you are interested in shopping at our Newly Opened Harvest Market, please contact the school for an appointment at 419-259-4000. Remember a visit to the Harvest Market is completely confidential and located within an area that is private in the school building.
BE PREPARED FOR COLD WEATHER AT RECESS
If it is cold or snowy, your child should wear a jacket, hat, gloves, and boots (optional) to school as we will still be going outside for recess as long as the temperature is above 20 degrees, including the wind chill.
NEED A WINTER COAT OR SHOES?
We are excited to partner with the Old Newsboys Goodfellow Association to assist any of our students that may need winter coats or shoes. Please call our office to get more information from Mr. Horton, our Parent Liaison.

A FINAL NOTE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT
Dear Families,
The holiday season is a good time to remind ourselves that little eyes and ears and hearts are watching and listening and feeling how we adults are speaking and behaving. More than any other time of the year, everything is creating a memory for these precious children. May this year's memories be ones of the love and joy that you have for them. No matter how you celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or others, may your blessings be many, your worries be few, and your days be spent with those who mean the most to you.
My best wishes for a very happy holiday season,
Darlene M. Burke, Board President
