8th Grade Social Studies Students Attend Regional National History Day
Several of Mrs. Garrett’s Honors History students participated today in a Regional National History Day competition at Hanover College. All students are moving on to the State competition at Marian University next month with their projects! Students created exhibits, wrote papers, and even created a documentary about rights and responsibilities in history!
Jayden Minneman Earns Patriot Pen Award!
Congratulations to Jayden Minneman for earning the Patriot’s Pen award from the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)! This remarkable achievement highlights Jayden’s dedication, writing skills, and deep understanding of democracy. Jayden was one of over 1,000 students who participated in the “My Voice in Democracy” essay contest, demonstrating exceptional insight and eloquence in their essay. Jayden was honored at last week's school board meeting with a certificate and plaque!
Panthers Shine at Tri-County Individual Wrestling Championship
The Panthers wrestling team delivered an outstanding performance at the Tri-County Individual Championship, showcasing their strength, determination, and skill on the mat. With 18 Panthers competing in the tournament, an impressive 14 wrestlers placed in the top four of their respective weight classes. The team's success was highlighted by seven finalists, with six Panthers earning the coveted title of Tri-County Champion.
Tri-County Champions: Brayden Pedigo, William Sappa-Jennings, Cain Cook, Gage McClure, Lucas Booher, and Seth Nocella. These wrestlers displayed exceptional skill and resilience, securing their victories and bringing home championship titles for the Panthers.
Additional Top-Four Placements: Lucas Smith - 3rd, Malichi Eggleston - 4th, Daniel Kelly - 4th, Brantlan Henry - 2nd, Cooper Beineke - 4th, Brendan Krawcyzk - 4th, Keegan Price - 4th, Eddie Coquerille - 4th
The Panthers’ performance at the championship reflects their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence in wrestling. Each competitor demonstrated remarkable perseverance and sportsmanship, making their school and community proud. Congratulations to all the wrestlers for their achievements, and a special shoutout to the champions for their outstanding victories!
Beginning and Advanced Orchestra Spring Concert
Congratulations to our Beginning and Advanced Orchestra students on an outstanding Spring Concert! Their hard work and dedication were on full display, delivering a night of memorable music. The Beginning Orchestra performed Aftershock by Larry Clark and Enduring the Storm by Lucas Shogren, impressing the audience with their energy and precision. The Advanced Orchestra followed with Eagles Pride by Susan H. Day and Gargoyles by Doug Spata, showcasing their skill and musical expression.
A big thank you to our orchestra director, Mr. Billings, families, and supporters for encouraging these talented musicians. Bravo to all for an incredible performance!
Jennings County Swimmers Shatter 400 Freestyle Relay Record—Twice!
Breaking a decade-old record is an incredible achievement, but breaking it again in less than 24 hours is even more impressive! Congratulations to Ayden Chen, Kolin Alcorn, Jayden Minneman, and Levi Whitesell for their outstanding performance in the 400 Freestyle Relay. After initially setting a new school record, the team pushed themselves even further, shaving off an additional two seconds to establish a new record time of 4:26.27! This showcases their hard work, determination, and teamwork. A huge congratulations to these talented swimmers and their coaches for this historic achievement.

🐾State Results from the JCMS Archery Team 🐾
The Jennings County Middle School Bullseye and 3D Archery Team performed exceptionally well at the 2025 Indiana NASP/IBO State Tournament in Indianapolis on March 8th!
Bullseye Results:
Team 1 placed 9th out of 40 middle school teams with a score of 3173, while Team 2 placed 32nd with a score of 2969. Batesville Middle School took first place with 3269.
3D Results:
The team placed 10th out of 15 schools with a score of 1557. Brentley Norris placed 2nd individually in the state with a score of 282/300, just one ten away from the championship!
Great job to all our archers—we are so proud of you! Best of luck on the road to Nationals in Louisville, KY!
Snow Day Waiver
Jennings County Schools received a waiver from the Indiana Department of Education for the last snow day on Thursday, February 20, 2025 meaning that there will not be a day added to the current school year's calendar. The last day of classes for students is Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Reminder: to participate in athletics, student athletes MUST have a sports physical on file at JCMS and must be registered on Final Forms.
Schneck Urgent Care at 1124 Medical Pl. Seymour, IN 47274 is open from 8 am to 8 pm Monday-Friday and 8 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. This location offers sports physicals for $25 cash/debit/credit (meaning they do not run insurance)
If your athlete attended tonight’s after school workout and did not have a physical on file, they received a form that can be filled out and taken to their physical. Having this filled out ahead of time will make your trip much quicker. If they do not have a form, they can get one from the JCMS athletic office!
For any questions about this process, please contact the JCMS Athletic office during school hours. We look forward to all of our athletes being able to participate!
JCMS Track and Pool Calendar
JCMS Pool Closed for Upgrades/Maintenance
The JCMS Pool will be temporarily closed to allow our maintenance crew to perform necessary maintenance and upgrades. The closure began on March 13th, and we anticipate the pool reopening by mid-April.
During this time, all pool activities, including open swim and lap swim, will be unavailable. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our facilities. Please stay tuned for updates on the reopening date.
