Support James Griffin's Long Road to Recovery
Officer James Griffin was one of our amazing SRO's last school year. He was involved in a motorcycle accident on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was taken to UMC in New Orleans and has undergone several surgeries and tests. He is still currently in the hospital and will be for a while. There is a lot of unknown right now but we do know that he will have a very long and difficult recovery. He will not be able to work, therefore handle any bills. We want him and his family to not worry about anything financially for the next few months. If you know James, he will and has done anything for anyone he loves. Now it’s time for us to do for him. Please continue to pray for his recovery and healing, for his one year old son, Myles, his mother, sister, and his child’s mother.

ALL SAINTS DAY
Dear Parents,
We would like to invite all of our students in Pre-Kindergarten through 7th grade to dress as a favorite saint for our All Saints Day, Holy Day of Obligation, Celebration of the Eucharist on Friday, November 1, 2024. The students will attend Mass at 8:15am.
If you choose for your child to participate, which is completely optional, we ask that costumes be very simple. An example is a tunic which can easily be placed over the regular uniform, with perhaps a veil or cowl. We want to be a source of reverence and not distraction. A card identifying the saint should be pinned to the costume or worn as a small placard around the neck.
Costumes should be worn to school that morning. Students in costume will be asked to stand in place and be recognized during Mass. All costume accessories (hats, stafs etc.) or large outerwear are removed in the classroom after Mass, so please send a bag for these items to be carried home. Thank you for considering this option on a wonderful holy day. It adds great joy to our celebration and reminds us all that the purpose of Halloween (All Hallows’ Eve), is that it is the night before we celebrate the saints! It is a reminder that we are not home yet! We are all aiming for eternal life in heaven.
If you have any questions, please contact me at aenright@saintmmschool.org.

6th & 7th Graders - HIGH SCHOOL VISIT DAYS
Below are a few highschool Visit days coming up, once we receive all High school's dates, we will release that info as well. As the open house passes, we will remove the flyer
IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE: HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT VISITS DAYS
“Student Visits Days” (formerly known as “Shadow Days”) present a valuable experience for your children, affording them the opportunity to participate in actual ‘on campus’ classes and activities and to get ‘a feel’ for their school(s) of choice. In order for our students to be best prepared for their high school career, it is essential that their current classwork and responsibilities must be their top priority, even during these student visit days.
The following policy must be strictly adhered to in order for our students to continue to be successful at St. Margaret Mary, while looking ahead to their future.
“ST. MARGARET MARY ‘STUDENT VISITS DAYS’ POLICY”
1. Parents must give SMM a one-week notice of the date/times that their child will attend a Student Visit Day. This notice can be in writing, or via email and submitted to Mrs. Sanchez, our Counselor.
2. Mrs. Sanchez will confirm the absence with our School Receptionist, Mrs. Miller, as well as with all of the student’s classroom teachers.
3. It is the parent/child’s responsibility to confirm that either NO tests/quizzes will be missed in each class OR confirm a time for the test/quizzes to be made up.
4. Teachers will allow any homework/assignments due on the scheduled date to be submitted either ahead of time or upon the day of return. This determination will be made by the teacher based on the specific work assigned.
5. Any “Student Visits Day” absences will be excused provided that the above criteria are met. If any of the above specified criteria is not met, the absence will be recorded as “unexcused”.
Thank you for encouraging your child to prioritize his/her immediate responsibilities while also making these “Student Visits Days” learning experiences the best that they can be.
Please do not hesitate to contact our School Counselor, Mrs. Sanchez (985-643-4612 or dsanchez@saintmmschool.org) with any questions or concerns.
