West Point El. Parent Update
Week of March 16, 2025
Dear West Point Families,
Happy St. Patrick's Day! "May your troubles be less and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door."
Educational concern forms are now available online through Friday, March 28. These forms are optional but are available to parents if you would like us to consider special factors when making class placements for the 2025-2026 school year. Please use the following link to access the form.

Here are three important things to know for the coming week.
- Our school musical, Lion King, Jr., is this week! We still have tickets on sale in the office for $5.00 each.
- Our last Community Council meeting of the year will be next Wednesday, March 26 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the conference room. (rescheduled)
- The deadline for ordering yearbooks is almost here. Yearbooks can be ordered on myDSD for $18 through March 31. After that date, it will be first come first served for $25 if we have any extras.
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy

Weekly Principal Paw Award Recipients
Congratulations to our Principal Paw Award recipients this past week! We love celebrating our students at our golden ears party and sharing the many ways they go above and beyond to be safe, respectful, responsible, and caring.
Experience the Magic
Magical Manners
This week's manner is "Wait for Your Turn Patiently." We want our students to understand that we don't always get to be first to take a turn, and it wouldn't be fair to others if we did. Sometimes it's hard to wait for our turn or to wait in lines, but learning to do so patiently and with a good attitude creates a better experience for everyone, including ourselves!
52 Modern Manners for Kids
March's LETTERING Focus - W for Wildcat Hanshake
This month we are focusing on W - West Point Wildcat Handshake. Greeting someone warmly with a handshake shows respect to others, helps others feel welcome, and portrays confidence. Ask your students to show you their Wildcat Handshake! They will get an opportunity at the end of the month to practice their Wildcat handshake with different members of the school and community.
March Brag Tags
This is our third week for students to earn their March attendance and reading brag tags. Please continue to encourage your students to earn their brag tags! Students can earn an attendance brag tag if they have 0-1 absences for the month. They earn their reading brag tag by reading at home at least 18 days during the month.
Community Information
Reading is a piece of cake!
The Clinton location of Nothing Bundt Cakes is providing another opportunity for parents to reward students for reading. This promotion is not connected to the school, but your child can take advantage of the opportunity to fill out a Books & Bundts reading tracker each month. When they have read for 400 minutes for the month, they can turn in the tracker for a free bundlet.

Attendance Adds Up
Please be aware of your students' attendance and help them to be at school every day. We understand that students who are sick need to be home. (Please see the above DSD Health Protocol.) However, missing a day of school here and there adds up quickly and puts students behind. Thank you for your support!
