ACTIVITY PASSES
Dear Huskie Families-
As we get ready to start the school year with events, the Athletics and Activities department wants to remind you to get your 2023-24 Activity card to help save you money and time when attending athletic events, theatre performances or school dances. By purchasing an activity card, it allows students to get into all HOME athletic events (excluding the post season/playoffs) FREE of charge and we also offer the following price savings along with the many activity benefits:
- $5.00 off Back to School Color Dance
- 1 FREE ticket to the CV/DC Football game (pre-sale) - since we are the HOME team this year
- $5.00 off Homecoming Dance ticket price
- $5.00 off Wish Week Dance ticket price
- $5.00 off End of the Year Dance ticket price
- Other Activity events that have an entry fee throughout the school year (theatre performances included)
If your child would like to purchase a 2023-24 Activity card hopefully you ordered it when you did “Express Check-In” at the beginning of the school year. If you forgot to do it then, you can have them come to the North Main office and see Mrs. Morgan Freel (Principal's Administrative Assistant). Cost is $50.00. Go to THIS LINK (2023-24 Activity Card) to purchase one in the DCHS MySchoolBucks store.
They will need to bring in their current ID so we can reprint it with the “activity pass” pass designation on it. You MUST bring a copy of your payment in MSB receipt to have the designation put on your reprinted ID.
This is a great way to save money throughout the year on the various athletic and activity events held at DCHS as well as skip the long lines to buy tickets to athletic events.
For more information or questions, please contact Diane Shuck-Gray, Assistant Principal/Athletics & Activities Director 303-387-1120 or email dhshuck@dcsdk12.org.
GO HUSKIES!

I wanted to send you the information that we have on an upcoming cohort of AMTAP (Advanced Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Program). This program would be a good option for your graduating high school seniors who are not planning to head to a university in the fall but are looking for good employment. This opportunity is also a great option for those looking to gain entry into a career in space manufacturing who don't have previous experience but do have related skill sets.
AMTAP offers immediate access to pay and benefits and those given full-time offers after the nine-week paid training program have immediate access to Tuition Assistance if higher education is something they would like to pursue in the future.
Please feel free to forward this as you see fit. We would love to see you or any of your students at the virtual information session linked on the flyer! Click HERE to view our AMTAP Video!

Hello Huskies!
Questions about your schedule?
Please remember, as you were advised during course registration, that there are minimal adjustments to schedules. Classes are created based on student selections at that time. We will make changes for the following reasons:
You are a Senior missing a Graduation Requirement.
There is an empty period or See Counselor in your schedule.
You are placed in a class you do not have the prerequisites for.
You are physically unable (by doctor's note) to participate in the class.
You have successfully completed the class in summer school.
You are a senior dropping for an off-hour (seniors can only have 2 off hours per semester).
You are missing the second semester of a year-long class.
You are missing one of your core classes.
If you are a Freshman/Transfer and have one of the issues listed above with your schedule or you are missing a schedule, you may email your counselor or stop in at some point during your first day of school on Tuesday, August 8th.
All other students can email their counselors with questions or concerns.
COLOR DANCE
Douglas County High School will be holding the 8th Annual Back to School Dance (sponsored by Student Council and DECA) THIS Friday, August 11th from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm on the OLD TENNIS COURTS (the west side of the DC Stadium). Cost is $10.00 to enter ($5.00 if you have an Activity Pass for the 2023-24 school year). You MUST HAVE YOUR STUDENT ID with you. There are no outside guests allowed at this event. - WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT CASH due to the location of the event.
The theme once again is "A COLOR DANCE" where everyone needs to wear white (t-shirt, shorts, socks, etc.) and be ready to have your body plastered in an explosion of vibrant color with all your friends! By the end of the dance your blank canvas will be brighter than ever! You just show up wearing white and the administrators and your fellow classmates will do the rest! As you dance, laugh, socialize, you will be bombarded with bright colors that transform the group of ordinary students into a moving rainbow. Make sure you are at the dance by 7:30 pm in order to participate in the “launch” of color for the video!
The color that you will be showered in is completely safe and is said to wash off easily. Please note that DCHS is NOT RESPONSIBLE for damages to clothing/hair/ etc. incurred while partaking in the event. (Remember to bring a towel for when you leave so you don’t get the color on your car seats :)
The DCHS DECA program is selling the color to throw during the “launch” as well as at each other.
- You can purchase 2 packages of powder (picked up at the dance) for the “launch” at 7:30 pm. COST IS $5.00 (you may buy as many color powder packages as you’d like)
- The color cost is in ADDITION to the $10.00 dance ticket admission as that must be purchased at the door the night of the event.
- WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT CASH due to the location of the event.
(**Please note that we cannot guarantee anyone would be exempt from being splashed by the color so please be aware of this as you plan on attending the dance).
We hope to see everyone there as it will be a great way to start the year with FUN AND STYLE! It will be a night to remember, and one you don’t want to miss!
Sincerely,
DCHS Student Council

SENIOR YEARBOOK PHOTOS
Parents of the Class of 2024: Congratulations! It’s time to start marking the milestones of your student’s senior year, which means it is time to start thinking about their senior yearbook photo. If you’ve had a senior student before, you know that many families take senior photos the summer before their senior year of high school. Douglas County High school is pleased to announce that moving forward, we will be utilizing a local photographer to take ALL senior yearbook photos. This allows for a more uniform and professional look, and best of all this is ABSOLUTELY FREE to all seniors! Douglas County high School will now be working exclusively with Monty Nuss Studios. Here is how it will work:
You must have your photo taken by this photographer for your portrait to be in the book. This exclusive photographer process is for senior yearbook photos only. YOU ARE STILL ABLE TO USE PERSONAL PHOTOS OF YOUR CHOICE FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES – SENIOR TRIBUTE ADS, GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS, ETC! This studio provides excellent photography for your graduate and has created specific opportunities for Douglas County seniors (click here for the flyer ). Seniors who do not schedule an appointment at Monty Nuss studios over the summer, will need to attend one of the FREE yearbook days at the school in August and September in order to ensure they will be included in the 2024 yearbook. Sign-ups will be made available to Seniors at the start of the 2023-2024 school year in August.
As always, parents are welcome to schedule and purchase senior photos from the photographer of their choice, and you may purchase a senior ad and use any of your chosen photos, but for senior YEARBOOK photo, it will need to come from Monty Nuss studios. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and we are looking forward to offering this amazing new photo opportunity with our graduating classes!

Counseling Secretary - THE GATEKEEPER - Mrs.Hartman
Mrs.Hartman asks these questions so that when your counselor sees you, they are better prepared to help you. Some questions/requests need paperwork/or contact information and if your counselor knows this, we can help you faster.
Welcome Back Huskie Families!
We are excited to start the 2023-24 school year and I want to encourage all students to GET INVOLVED. Whether it is through an activity program or with any of our myriad of athletics teams, there is hopefully something for everyone. So many of our fall athletic programs don’t have roster limits so we urge students to go out for a new sport and give it a try!
As we get ready to get the Fall Sports season underway, there is a process that must be completed in order to participate for ANY athletics team at Douglas County High School. All potential fall sport athletes MUST pre-register at the link below and follow the steps (through the payment process) and turn in the mandatory physical form to Ms. Eilers in the Athletics Office.
Online registration is required to participate in sports at all Douglas County School District High Schools. As a part of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), we use the rSchoolToday registration system. If you are creating a new account, rSchoolToday will send a verification email with a link when an account is created. After the verification is complete, the registration process can proceed. Families will only need to verify the email address once. Parents can register a student for a single sport, or multiple sports at once, however, parents will need to complete a separate registration for each student in their household. For technical support with registration, please contact rSchoolToday at support@rschooltoday.com.
In order to register your fall sport athlete, please go to the following link (we are only accepting FALL sports registration at this time):
