What an eventful spring semester it has been so far! We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and staff over the last few months. In this newsletter you'll find stories about the magic happening both in our classrooms and around The Colony community. This time of year is full of festivities, celebrations and events, so be sure to check your child's campus calendar as well as the The Colony High School calendar for things happening in your area. On May 4, registered voters residing within Lewisville ISD boundaries will be asked to consider a total of three propositions that would generate funding to conduct maintenance, repair and renovation needs at various athletics and recreation facilities across the district, as well as all five existing high school stadiums and the district’s two existing Aquatic Centers. Even if voters approve all three bond propositions (totaling $101.8M), the LISD tax rate will not change. Early Voting will run from April 22 to April 30. The deadline to register to vote is Thursday, April 4. Visit LISD.net/Vote for voter registration information, polling locations and more.

We are so proud to announce our 10 finalists for LISD's 2023-24 Teacher of the Year! Special congratulations to our The Colony feeder pattern finalists; Deborah Bianco (Ethridge), Brian Edley (Peters Colony) and Jasmine Richard (Memorial). We were so excited to celebrate 8th graders from around the district as they got the news they were accepted into LISD's Collegiate Academy at The Colony High School! The Collegiate Academy gives students the opportunity to earn an Associate's Degree or up to 60 hours of dual credit while in high school. Congratulations, students! SEE PHOTOS

We had a blast celebrating our 100th day of school with our students and staff! SEE PHOTOS

At Morningside's vocabulary parade, students taught each other new words through fun costumes! Watch the video above to see the parade in progress, and click HERE to see photos.

Meteorologist Jeff Ray from CBS News visited our Mavericks! Students learned about meteorology, and were even featured in a segment on the news! SEE PHOTOS

The Colony Chamber of Commerce recognized Lakeview Middle School during their January meeting. Congratulations to Teacher of the Month Emalee Fuentes and Students of the Month Abigail Bryant and Santiago Payan. READ MORE

Griffin students decorated the halls all February in honor of Black History Month. It was so great to see inspiring quotes and meaningful moments in history displayed on our campus! SEE PHOTOS

To welcome students back for the spring semester, Ethridge staff transformed the school into a mini golf course! Students were able to play the course and reconnect with one another. SEE PHOTOS

Cartoonist, author, and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos paid Camey second and third graders a visit! Our Cobras learned about how ordinary people change the world being true to themselves, persevering, and working hard. They also grew their artistic talent with some directed drawings from Mr. Eliopoulos himself! Thank you to Barnes and Noble-Stonebriar and Penguin Random House for giving our students this opportunity! SEE PHOTOS

Each year LISD participates in Go Red month, an initiative to focus on heart health. Our BB Owen students learned hands-only CPR in honor of Go Red month, to become #HeartHeroes at their school! SEE PHOTOS

• Cory Broom, TCHS | "Since the very first time we met Mr. Broom, we noticed his enthusiasm, energy, and will to help! He is one of the reasons our daughter Sofía, enrolled in Collegiate Academy, and it has been one of the best decisions we have ever made! Mr. Broom is patient, caring, trustworthy and knowledgeable, and has helped our daughter several times with many things from creating efficient schedules, to planning for her future. Thank you Mr. Broom for all you do for TCH students!"

• Gerren Odum, Griffin MS | "My 7th grader loves science labs. Mr. Odum hypes them up in such a way that my daughter is always excited to go to school the day of one of his labs. She loves getting to do fun projects and create things that have been perfectly tailored for her inquisitive middle school mind. She comes home with her latest science creations not only excited to show us but able to demonstrate true knowledge on the topic taught."
• VH Smith, BB Owen ES | "VM constantly cares for the needs of all individuals on our campus - students AND staff. She goes above and beyond to ensure our kids are safe and healthy so they can spend more time in the classroom to get the learning they need. Her dedication to the collective well-being is unmatched."
